Head to the Main Hall and find your father

From Lord Of Utterdom

You rush out of your room, barely remembering to shut the door. Down the hall you race, bounding down the stairs like an animal tearing off from a predator. Your feet hit the floor of the Main Hall with a slight clap, your riding boots soles slapping against the floor and causing everyone in the room to fall silent and look in your direction. You clear your throat in sudden embarassment, straightening out your travel jacet and dusting at your sleeves as if you were too busy to be bothered with their stares.

Your father stands with his advisors, and waves you over quickly. As you make your way over, the servants in the room turn back to their work, and your left to discuss the business at hand with the King.

"My son," he says, smiling proudly. "You look marvelous." He reaches out and straightens your cloak at your shoulders. "I have made preparations for your soujourn to Shaern to investigate the rumors of Duke Brand's treachery. While I find them difficult to believe, it is best to silence this matter one way or another." He turns to his advisor, who hands him a scroll, rolled tightly and sealed with wax and his signet. "This is to be delivered to the Duke, should you find him guilty as the rumors say. It is a royal edict demanding he turn over his holdings and step down as Lord of his county."

You take the scroll and tuck it away, beaming. You can't wait to get on with this.

"First, you must travel to Windlok, a small town to the west. There you will find a tavern called the Merry Moot. You will meet a woman there who is to accompany you. This is a task you must see completed first." He takes two small pouches from another advisor, and hands them in your direction, one much larger than the other.

"The large pouch is for the woman. The smaller contains coin and a signet ring for you, should you find need of anything on the road. If the coin runs out, use the ring as a signal to procure what you need."

You nod, taking it all and tucking it away.

"Do be careful, my son. Learn what you can, and be wary. I believe this will shape you in wonderous ways, and shall be quite good in building your character." He pats you on the shoulder, then asks an advisor to show you to your stables. "Off with you. Time is of the essence."

As you head to the door, he speaks one final warning. "Remember, keep your task quiet, lest you be discovered by any enemies of the crown!"
