Please do not post details of scarce breeding birds (those included in Schedule 1 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, amended 2000). Any such reports will be removed. Please list rarest sightings at top rather than alphabetically. Sunday 18th October
- Staines Moor: 1w BROWN SHRIKE still at the north end to 17:30hrs at least (for 8th day); c.TQ028731 park at Hithermoor Road (Stanwell Moor) and take concrete path south by King George VI Reservoir ~ for those travelling by public transport: get the Piccadilly Line to Heathrow Terminal 5, then the 441 bus (from 'local buses' stops) to the very first stop in Stanwell Moor (this takes 4 mins and costs £1.30 (no Oystercards or travelcards are accepted) then walk down Hithermoor Road (to your right from the bus stop) until you can see King George VI Res, then follow the footpath along the reservoir edge to the kissing gate and cross the Colne on your right - continue to view (10 mins from bus stop). LOST: black, ring-bound notebook dropped between Staines Moor and Staines Reservoir mid-morning, probably fallen out of a car on leaving the shrike site. If found please contact 07895 388378 or fieldfare@jaybry.gotadsl.co.uk. also Wheatear, Kingfisher, Sparrowhawk, Grey Wagtail (Nigel May), Dartford Warbler, fem type still SE corner hawthorn with pair of Stonechats, Redpoll heard only (Franko J. - Wanstead Flats (a.m. Viz Mig): 1 Siskin, 40 Chaffinch, 6 Redwing, 2 Skylark (heading north-west), 1000 Starling (largest flock of around 500 heading NNW), 9 Song Thrush, 5 Pied/White Wagtails. Also 1 fem/imm Stonechat, 5 Reed Bunting, Chiffchaff, 20 Skylarks, 15 Meadow Pipit, 2 Grey Wagtails, 42 Common Gulls. Saturday 17th October

No sign of any Slavonian Grebes 2 hours after birdguides report, just 18 Great Crested, 1 Little Grebe & B.N. Grebe! W. Swan still with Snipe & L. Egret at East end. Of note 5 Little Grebe together on H.Maynard (J. Murray).
- Staines Reservoirs: Black-necked Grebe S basin SW crnr, also 2 Goldeneye fem type, late a.m. (Franko J. Maroevic).
- Crossness: Ring Ouzel near the incinerator early a.m. then flew SW (Kev Jarvis), Brent Goose in Barking Bay then on Thames off Golf Centre till midday at least, also 2 Lesser Redpolls on Southern Marsh, 45 Black-tailed Godwits, 1 Dunlin, 2 Wigeon, 3 Fieldfare, 2 Redwing, 2 Stonechat (John Archer, Kev Jarvis, Ian Miller).
- Queen Mary Res: Honey-buzzard north (Birdguides).
- Greenhithe: large dark falco spp drifted over Bluewater area a.m., between Kestrel and Peregrine in size, long tail, long pointed wings (no optics so possibly a falconers bird; observer's impression was of Eleonora's Falcon) (LondonBirders Yahoo group).
- Alexandra Park: Viz mig 0715-0910: 2 Fieldfare, c170 Redwing, 2 Siskin, 9 Song Thrush, 2 Blackbird, c40 Chaffinch, 2 Greenfinch, 8 Goldfinch, 2 Grey Wag, 10 Alba Wag, 6 Jackdaw, Egyptian Goose, Chiffchaff Cricket Scrub (Bob Watts, Gareth Richards).

- Alexandra Park: Woodcock flushed from Cricket Scrub 0749 and did not seem to go far; 7 Redwing NE (Gareth Richards); 50+ Greenfinches in three flocks (N) in the space of 5 minutes c08:40 + Meadow Pipit (David Callahan).
- Battersea Park Lake: 22 Shoveler, 3 pairs Gadwall (much less than summer), pair of Mute Swan cygnets flying over water, 50+ Cormorant in roost, 20 Ring-necked Parakeet, 1 Jay (Michael Mac).
- Brent Res: Jack Snipe, 21 Snipe, Green Sand, noisy Water Rail, 24+ Wigeon, 22 Redwing (Andrew Verrall).
- Crayford Marsh: 2 Little Egrets, Greenshank, 6 Stonechats, 24 Ringed Plovers, 5 Wigeon, Curlew, 2 Snipe, Common Sandpiper, 7 Dunlin, c80 Lapwings, fem Sparrowhawk, 6 Teal (Kev Jarvis).
- East Croydon: several dozen Pied Wagtail mainly flying onto Royal Mail building (18:00hrs) then down to the four small trees (CroydonBirders).
- Hampstead Heath: 1w Stonechat in scrub on Pryor's Field 100m north of East Heath Road car park (patch tick), 2 Kingfishers on Highgate Ponds, several flocks of 6-15 Redwings, 10-20 Chaffinches and 10+ Goldfinches, 14 Mandarin on Stock Pond, 4 Kestrel, GSW, Green Woodpecker, 7x Shoveller on Highgate No1 pond (Sash Tusa).
- London Wetland Centre: Rock Pipt, Cetti's Warbler (SBC).Little Egret on marsh then west (NPS, Rupert Kaye, James Bray)
- Paddington Green: Egyptian Goose low SW, m Kestrel, 2 Grey Wagtail, 14 Chaffinch NW, 7 Goldfinch NW (Des McKenzie).

- Wraysbury GP: juv Gannet still on BA Sailing Pit from first light until at least 0730 (Andrew Moon, Pete Naylor, Ken Purdey and Bob Warden), no sign at 09.30 but there again at 10.55 and flew off east 11.02 (John Archer); on pit between B376 and the M25 at 11:30, then flew S/SE towards Staines (LGRE per JA). Also 50+ Wigeon on BA Sailing Pit (John Archer).
- Staines Res: juv Gannet flew N over causeway at 0804, and appeared to go down on N end of KGVI Res, but no sign later (PN, KLP, RW). Also Black-necked Grebe on south basin, showing very well close to causeway (John Archer).
- Queen Mother Res (permit access): Gannet present between 09:10hrs and 09:33hrs then flew east (Birdguides).
- Crayford Marsh: imm Gannet flew west along River Thames at 10:06am, 3 ad Yellow-legged Gulls, 3 Little Egrets, Curlew, c80 Lapwings, 45 Redshanks, 23 Ringed Plovers (Kev Jarvis).
- Belvedere: imm Gannet west along Thames 11:50hrs (Ian Miller per JA).
- London Wetland Centre: Spotted Crake showing well north side of main lake from Dulverton Hide to 9.30 at least, c.30 Snipe, 1 Rock Pipit, 10 House Martins, 1 Kingfisher, 1 Lesser Whitethroat, 18 Chiffchaffs, 26 Goldfinches NW, 8 Linnets (NPS, Adam Salmon)
- Crossness: Dartford Warbler still at the NR, showing by the hide mid-a.m. (Birdguides).
- Paddington Green: pr Peregrine (m/f) in area between c07:45hrs and 09:20hrs at least, 2 Grey Wagtail, c100 Starling, singing Goldfinch (Des McKenzie).

- Grays: 2nd-cal year Gannet along Thames near yacht club at 17:35 - 17:40 last seen heading east (Rainham bird??) photo posted on BirdGuides under uk/ireland (J.Murray).
- Great Warley: dark-morph ad Eleonora's Falcon over the B186 at Tooks Farm from 16:15-16:20 when it flew off east and no further sign by 18:10hrs (Birdguides).

- Thames Barrier Park: very large gull gathering at barrier due to turbulence as it was being raised inc 6 (3 adult, 3rd-winter and 2 1st-winter) Yellow-legged, 500-600 Black-headed, 100+ each of Herring and LBB, 10+ GBB, and c20 Common Gulls, plus 24+ Teal, 2 Linnet (David Callahan, Richard Bonser).
