[edit] Background
Boiling Point featured professional wrestling matches that involved different wrestlers from pre-existing feuds, plots, and storylines which were played out on AEW's primary television program. Wrestlers portrayed villains or heroes as they followed a series of events that built tension and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches.
The main storyline for Concussion brand features the AEW World Heavyweight Champion The Miz who became the champion after defeating five other guys including the former AEW Champion Randy Orton in the Elimination Chamber match. One week after the event, AEW Intercontinental Champion Colt Cabana interrupted The Miz' Championship celebration, challenged The Miz to a AEW World Heavyweight Championship match at Boiling Point, Miz would not accept due to Randy Orton coming out and attacking Colt Cabana getting more retribution for costing him the World Championship, The Miz would have enough time to blind side Orton and whack him in the back of the head with the title. Later that night, in the Main event Cabana and Michelle defeated Orton and Layla in a Mixed Tag Team match due to interference from The Miz who connected with a Skull Crushing Finale to Orton on the outside of the ring. Candice would go on to pin Layla for the win. After the match, Orton would get the last word on Cabana with a RKO on the stage, and then The Miz and Orton began battling in the ring until security and officials seperated the two men. The AEW Chairman Shane McMahon came out and announced that The Miz would defend the World Heavyweight Championship against Colt Cabana, But in addition Colt's Intercontinental Championship would be on the line too. Shane McMahon then announced that Randy Orton was invoking his rematch clause also at Boiling Point, making the match a Two-Fall Triple Threat match for both the World Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championship's. The first fall being for the AEW Intercontinental Championship and the second fall being for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. Orton and Miz would be hauled to the back by security. On the April 16 2012, episode of Concussion a Director of Authority was announced by Shane McMahon who then allowed Taz (who was announced as the DOA) came out. Miz was about to hit Orton with the title again when Taz came down the ramp, Miz was distracted Orton popped back up spun Miz around and connected with a RKO and was setting Miz up for a Punt to the Skull, But Taz was able to step in the way.
Another main storyline is Shawn Michaels who is making his in-ring debut against Dolph Ziggler in a Sixty-Minute Iron Man match, The feud began after the No Escape pay-per-view where Ziggler had just defeated Ric Flair in Steel Cage match Michaels would make his return and chased Ziggler out of the cage. On the March 26, 2012 episode of Concussion Michaels challenged Ziggler to a match Ziggler accepted, The match was than announced as 60-Minute Iron Man match.
