IWE Network Supercard will feature professional wrestling matches that involved wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines that play out on IWE's primary television programs, Raw and SmackDown. Wrestlers will portray heroes or villains as they follow a series of events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches.
At SummerSlam, Seth Rollins defeated Dustin Simpson to retain the IWE World Heavyweight Championship and win the IWE United States Championship. On the August 24 episode of Raw, The Authority attempted to present Rollins with a statue for winning, but instead Sting made his return to the IWE for the first time since the night after WrestleMania 31 and attacked Rollins, challenging Rollins for the IWE World Heavyweight Championship by raising it over his head. Triple K then announced on the WWE Network that Rollins would defend the title against Sting at Night of Champions.
On the August 31 edition of Raw, there were three Beat the Clock challenge matches to determine a new number one contender to face Nikki Bella for the IWE Divas Championship at Night of Champions. The matches were Becky Lynch vs. Alicia Fox, Charlotte vs. Brie Bella, and Paige vs. Sasha Banks. Lynch defeated Fox to set a time of 3:21; Charlotte defeated Brie and set a new time of 1:40, and Paige and Banks wrestled to a time limit draw. This gave Charlotte the win and the title shot.
Also on the August 31 edition Raw, Seth Rollins was issuing an open challenge to Sting to confront him in the ring and demand the location for his station that was promised to him for defeating Dustin Simpson at SummerSlam. Dustin Simpson entered the ring and traded barbs with Rollins. After the barbs, Cena quickly got to the point and discussed that he was never given a return match for the IWE United States Championship. Since The Authority has declared that at Night of Champions all titles will be decided, it was only appropriate that he receive his return match that night. Rollins refused to acknowledge that statement but Simpson chided that it wasn't his decision to make. IWE Principal Owner Kaila Matteson agreed with Simpson and granted him his rematch for the IWE United States Championship against Rollins.
