[edit] Background

The Last Stand will feature professional wrestling matches that involve different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds and storylines. Wrestlers portray villains, heroes, or less distinguishable characters in the scripted events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches.

Last months PPV was suppose to be entitled; AEW 2: Gunner vs. Ambrose, due to Ambrose winning the Elimination Chamber match at the 2014 No Escape pay-per-view, defeating Bram, SJK, Magnus, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins to win a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. However on an episode of Concussion, Bram attacked Ambrose and put him out of the PPV for the month, Reigns took Ambrose's spot, Ambrose returned and attacked Bram, a match was announced for the PPV in a Last Man Standing match.

Since 2011 the Last Stand PPV held Last Man Standing match where the winner would be decided by whoever is on their feet after the referees ten count. The first match announced for the Last Stand pay-pr-view is a Last Man Standing match against Sami Callihan vs. Dolph Ziggler, throughout 2015 Ziggler and Callihan has been in a heated rivalry, after Callihan had attacked Ziggler at an AEW show. On an episode of Concussion during a match between Adrian Neville and Sami Callihan, Ziggler interfered, causing the match to end in a no contest, it was announced by AEW.com that Ziggler vs. Callihan would take place at the PPV event.

Another match announced by AEW.com is Havok defending the AEW Women's United States Championship against former champion, Eve Gracie in a Last Women's Standing match. Two months ago at No Escape, Havok defeated Eve Garcie to win the AEW Women's United States Championship. Eve has invoked her rematch in the Last Women's Standing match at the Last Stand PPV event.

Last month at AEW 2, Brock Lesnar attacked Kevin Steen after Steen had defeated Seth Rollins, it was announced on AEW.com that Lesnar and Steen will face off against one another at the Last Stand PPV event.

Last month at AEW 2, AEW Tag Team Champions The Power Players (MVP and Lashley) defeated reDRagon (Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly) to retain the AEW Tag Team Championship. On the March 2, 2015 episode of Concussion, it was announced that reDRagon would face the Power Players again for the Tag Team Championships at The Last Stand, with stipulations being added that if reDRagon beats MVP and Lashley they become Tag Team Champion and also MVP would step down as the Tag Team General Manager.

Last month at AEW 2, after Kevin Steen defeated Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar attacked him, it was later revealed that the reason Lesnar attacked Steen was jealousy over Steen using a variation of Lesnar's F-5 and dubbing it, the F-Cinq, a match between the two of them was announced on an episode of Concussion for the Last Stand PPV event.

Jay Briscoe has been buying his time to get into the World Heavyweight Championship picture, last month at the AEW 2 PPV, Briscoe was defeated by Lesnar, on an episode of Concussion, Briscoe continued to put his sights on the World Heavyweight Championship, Paul Heyman announced Briscoe vs. the returning Rhino in a Last Man Standing match at the Last Stand PPV.

Another match announced for the Last Stand PPV, is former tag team partners and Tag Team Champions Daniel Bryan facing Sami Zayn, after losing the Tag Team Championships, Zayn wanted to go after the titles again, but Bryan would not have any of it, on an episode of Concussion Zayn forced Bryan to agree to a match at the PPV.
