On January 26, 2014, a returning Finlay won the 2014 Royal Rumble earning himself a GWF World Heavyweight Championship match at WrestleMania XV. At Chaos Theory, after Chris Jericho successfully defended the GWF World Heavyweight Championship against former-champion Jeff Hardy in a Three Stages of Hell match, after Jericho won the match, Mr. Money in the Bank Wade Barrett cashed in his briefcase that he had won at the previous WrestleMania and defeated Chris Jericho to win the GWF World Heavyweight Championship, and would be World Heavyweight Champion going into the event.
