Background
Wrestle War will feature professional wrestling matches involving different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines that play out on AEW's television programs. Wrestlers portray heels or faces as they follow a series of events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches.
The first match that is scheduled to happen is the Traditional Wrestle War match. There has only be one other Wrestle War match in 2012 with Dolph Ziggler winning the match and getting a shot at the AEW Championship at the 2012 Superclash where he was defended by then-champion Colt Cabana.
There is a triple threat match set for the March 25, 2013 of March Madness: Concussion with James Storm, Sterling James Keenan and former AEW Champion Eric Young with the winner facing Scott Steiner for the AEW Championship. SJK defeated Storm and Young to become the number one contender to the title.
