From Hmtot

Issues to think about:

- Best layout for a multiple-grade item (e.g., "Potato (good)" and "Potato (perfect)")

- Other types pages we need:

  • Gameplay help pages (how to mine, how to fish, how to best farm, how to cook...
  • Game mechanics pages? (Stamina, affection rates, tool upgrading)
  • Glitches! (This can probably all be one page though?)

- A logo! "Default Image" is not working for me ;)

- Header (Anybody more familiar with Wiki know how to make the header say something other than "Hmtot"? D:)

Logo!

I got the logo to work. Image uploads seem to be disabled, so I'm hosting the image from my website. If anyone has any other images they wish to upload, just email them to me and I'll put them up. The url will always be http://www.retrowalkthroughs.com/hmtot/image-name.ext. The email address is retro@retrowalkthroughs.com - Bullfrog 06:34, 9 January 2009 (PST)

New Crops Page

Let me know what you think of the Crops page (Turnip is the only one I have done). If you can think of anything that should be added, taken away, or changed, please do so. I don't want to fill in a lot of information if there is a missing section :) - Bullfrog 11:01, 9 January 2009 (PST)

Field/Forageable Items

I wonder if we should change the name of the Field Items list to Forageable Items - Bullfrog 14:54, 9 January 2009 (PST)

Ah, whatever works. I just don't like the word "forageable" that much. And thanks so much for all the work you've put into it so far. ♥ yhibiki 18:52, 9 January 2009 (PST)

So far I have been enjoying myself :) We'll stick with Field Items. The only reason I wanted to change it was because it is called forageable in DJ's guide. I guess we don't want to copy everything he's written ;) - Bullfrog 19:49, 9 January 2009 (PST)

Untested column?

Hah. I used the wrong 'Discussion' board thingy. =P I was wondering if for Villagers we should add a 'untested' column? Just to keep track? ScribblyKakuloo 19:58, 9 January 2009 (PST)

That might make things really cluttered though? The preferences list already get really long if you're thorough about it (just check out Julius's page... And then people would need to remember to remove it from that column when adding it to the other one though.... But I do want a counter the way DetroitDJ's guide has. I just think it's unrealistic to expect random users to remember to change the number once we've opened it to the public. Hmm. - yhibiki 20:10, 9 January 2009 (PST)
Urgh. No kidding. Julius kicked my butt! O_O I found out after finishing that it's easier to just have a pre-made list of all (or at least most) of the items so I can just copy paste them all in. =3 It's actually really much faster now! ScribblyKakuloo 21:08, 9 January 2009 (PST)
Actually, the more I think about it, the more I kind of like the idea. It's just that I don't trust random users to remember to remove the name from the last column... Plus, urgh, we'd have to go back and add the extra column to all the items and recipes. XDD -yhibiki 15:12, 11 January 2009 (PST)

Bachelor/ettes...

On Bachelor/ettes... The "Alan's Tree" response seems kind of unnecessary. XD I don't know why I put it there. DetroitDJ's guide kind of confused me because it had "date answers" and then "lunch date" in a separate column, making it sound like there would be a second date. I notice that Owen's page has the response for the 5-heart event listed, which might be helpful?

We probably also need a page explaining the heart events and the rival events... urgh, too tired right now though. XD - yhibiki 20:34, 9 January 2009 (PST)

Solution to multiple grade items?

I think I have a solution to the multiple grade items. When you make a link to one, use the tag [[Target page|display text]] to show the grade, but have it link to only one page.

Example: [[Turnip|Turnip (Decent)]] Turnip (Decent)

This saves us from having 4 pages per crop. Also, I think the best way for formating the crop pages is just to have four tables for gifts, one for each level. Since it is just villager names, they shouldn't get too cluttered. - Bullfrog 21:01, 9 January 2009 (PST)

Oh good. That's what I've been doing. XD Yay for psychic abilities! ScribblyKakuloo 22:12, 9 January 2009 (PST)
Lol, that's what I've been doing too. And you're right, the lists for "recipient by gift" are a lot shorter than the other way around. XD - yhibiki 03:12, 10 January 2009 (PST)

===Profit Analyses===
As useful as these are, making a table for the recipes with more than just two ingredients is a pain in the ass. Maybe we should get rid of "profit analysis" and just replace it with "optimal profit" listing what that profit is and using which ingredients?

Ex: Optimal Profit: 190 (Chicken Egg (decent), Apple (normal), Pie Crust)

There's no way I'd be able to make a table like that for the fish recipes anyway XD - yhibiki 05:02, 10 January 2009 (PST)

Honey

Is honey a Field item or a Crop? O_o ~ ScribblyKakuloo 10:08, 10 January 2009 (PST)

Well, technically, it's an "animal product"? That's how the game classifies it. I'd be hesitant to call it a field item, considering you can't randomly find it in-game. - yhibiki 12:53, 10 January 2009 (PST)

Potato Rice

DJ's guide says that the ingredients are Yam and Rice. Does anybody know if this is accurate, or should it be Potato and Rice? - Bullfrog 16:31, 10 January 2009 (PST)

I just looked up a Japanese guide, and yeah, it's Yam, not Potato. The reason is because in Japanese, both of those are a type of "imo" -- yam is "satsumaimo" and potato is jagaimo. So the name of the dish, in Japanese, is "imo-gohan." Knowing the ingredients, I probably would have translated it as "sweet potato rice," but hey, I'm sure Natsume knows what they're doing-- oh wait. - yhibiki 20:33, 10 January 2009 (PST)
Thank you for looking that up :) The recipe has been listed as Yam and Rice. - Bullfrog 22:39, 10 January 2009 (PST)

Backing Up the Wiki

yhibiki, do you have FTP access or some other way of backing up the wiki? I'd hate to see all of our newly created pages disappear due to a server malfunction. - Bullfrog 22:39, 10 January 2009 (PST)

Urgh, looks like it'll be a hassle, there's not "export all" feature. Basically, you would go to Special:Export and then type in the name of every. single. page that you want to export. Beyond that, there doesn't seem to be a way.
(I'm also confused why it wasn't letting you upload files, because I checked, and that option is turned on. That is, "registered users can upload files." :X Not that there's that much space anyway; every wiki gets 25MB XD) - yhibiki 05:06, 11 January 2009 (PST)
It looks like you are able to upload media files, just not images. http://constantsun.blogspot.com/2008/07/image-upload-issues.html explains the reason why. Why do most web hosting companies have to be such pricks? - Bullfrog 11:31, 11 January 2009 (PST)

Spelling of Very Berry/Veryberry/Verryberry

I'm pretty sure it's "Very Berry," with a space, but DetroitDJ is inconsistent as well. I'm too lazy to turn on my Wii and check right now. -_-;; (hahha, I was playing all morning. I finally married Chase!) - yhibiki 15:12, 11 January 2009 (PST)

I've been using Veryberry in all of the recipes that require it, and I see that it is Veryberry in the Field Items list as well. I say we just leave it at that. I'll check next time I'm playing, though. There is usually a Verryberry in the foraging spot in Brownie Ranch. Hopefully we don't have to change anything :) - Bullfrog 16:39, 11 January 2009 (PST)
Well, the other way to check is using the bookshelf, it should be under "other" items. ... If we do have to change things, I'll set up a redirect until we get around to doing that. Redirects are ♥ - yhibiki 19:00, 11 January 2009 (PST)

Yoghurt?

What's with the spelling of yogurt? Is that how they spell it in the game? Bananabafilly 17:34, 11 January 2009 (PST)

It's a legitimate spelling! Dictionary.com says so! And it's the spelling that Wikipedia uses! However, I can't tell you if that's the spelling they use in-game. :X It's the one I'm most familiar with, but yes, firefox doesn't like it. (How's this for confusing: the yoghurt I just finished eating this morning spells itself as "yogourt.") - yhibiki 19:05, 11 January 2009 (PST)
