Cooking

From Hmtot

Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility's cooking system is very simple compared to previous Harvest Moons. While in Back to Nature and the Friends of Mineral Town series required you to have multiple utensils to cook some recipes, ToT only ever requires one utensil and up to five ingredients.

Cooking

To start cooking, you need to buy at least one cooking utensil (available mainly through the General Store, although Mira also sells them during the Spring and Summer fleamarkets. Place the cooking utensil onto the kitchen counter in your house (do this by clicking on your diary and selecting "furniture"), and then click on the item to begin cooking. You need to have the ingredients in your rucksack; having them in the fridge does not count.

Acquiring Recipes

Throughout the game, you can acquire recipes in several different ways. The easiest (and cheapest) is to visit the house of villagers who "like to cook" and checking their kitchens. These villagers are Yolanda, Mira, Barbara, and Chase.

You can also watch TV, anytime from 10am to 2pm, to catch Maya's cooking show. The recipes you learn from TV will automatically be recorded in your recipe list. This requires you to have a TV and to interrupt your schedule to sit through her show though, which can get repetitive. You also are not guaranteed to get a new recipe -- the same recipe can air two days in a row.

Recipes can also be bought at restaurants and during festivals.

Finally, you can just throw your ingredients into your pot (or other utensil) and create a new recipe. You'll know that it's new by the longer animation.

Match Set

Cost: 600g (bought at the General Store).

The match set is used not in your kitchen, but at beaches. Most beaches will have bonfire area set up; all you have to do is take your matches to the wood to start a fire. You can then throw in one ingredient to get a grilled version of it. All fish can be grilled, as well as a variety of vegetables. Also note that it is possible to ship the match set -- this can be useful if you need to free up some space in your rucksack for a while, but don't forget to take the match set back before the end of the day!

There are 46 bonfire recipes.
