Character Background
Tom Epsilon was originally designed by tomduo in August of 2000 under the alias Angel of Death. The character then developed into Tom Epsilon with the height of the Gemini Saga. Tom has remained a character present in every storyline of GWN mythology and several of the non-cannon storylines.
Genetic Analysis
Thomas Epsilon possesses advanced psychic abilities. Identification would classify him as a Mental (psychic) Newtype. Due to a genetic anomaly inherited from his bloodline, Thomas’s genes give his nervous system more control and production of ATP than standard humans. When combined with an advanced neural network, Thomas’s brain can produce ‘psychic’ waves. These waves allow a level of ESP, the ability to communicate with other psychics within a range of approximately 200,000 km. The advanced development of his central nervous system give Thomas advanced reflexes and a higher tolerance of pain.
Weapons of the Trade
Weapon of Choice
Thomas's preferred weapon is the 7.62 mm TT33 Tula-Tokarev Pistol. Soviet officers used the sidearm in the twentieth century CE. Thomas first encountered a Tokarev in his youth aboard the Napoli asteroid base. He trained to use the weapon, and eventually had a custom set cast for him. His new pistols held precision standards of modern firearms, and used modern bullets instead of antiquated bullets from the twentieth century CE. Tom would use many weapons over the years, but he still owns a pair of Tokarevs.

Biography
Not quite perfect
Thomas William Epsilon was born to John and Mary Epsilon on the Alpha Colony 24601 in orbit around the Jupiter moon Europa. The son of an engineer in the newly formed Io Colonial Senate, the separation from Mars and the Earth put the colony within the sights of the Gemini Foundation. Since Newtype prisoners from the Earth populated the Europa colonies, the genetic makeup of the population was of keen interest by the Foundation. Agents of Gemini offered parents financial compensation if they would allow their children’s genetic code tested. John and Mary agreed, due to the assumption that the test was for genetic defects from years of sub-standard living. The testing was a means to identify possible genes that could be used in the Sphaera Program. Thomas possessed the genetic makeup of a moderate Psychic Newtype, but did not share the genetics of a Physical Newtype. It was lucky for the Epsilon family that he was ultimately not chosen for the project.
Lightning would not strike twice for the family. Four years after Thomas’s birth, his sister Alyssa was born. Like her brother, Gemini agents subsequently tested her. Her genetics were different from her brother’s, revealing a more advanced genetic makeup. The agents confronted John and Mary, revealing that Alyssa was more genetically advanced than any other baby on the colony. The agents would pay the couple large sum in exchange for a chance to raise the child in the Foundation. Financial problems were straining the marriage of the couple. Mary did not want to give up her child, but John could save his family from poverty with the money. The couple’s indecision led to Gemini rescinding the offer.
The couple argued about the very future of the young child the night that Gemini decided to act. The fight caused Thomas to hide in a closet during a spat between his parents. The fight eventually ended from Gemini agents killing the mother and father. The agents took the young Alyssa, and set a firebomb to remove any evidence. The laughter burned in the four year old’s brain, even as fear paralyzed him. Shortly after the departure of the agents, the young boy rushed to the side of his dead that of cartoons he had seen hours before, and the boy knew his life was too in danger. Thomas barely escaped from the blast with his life.
After the gruesome death of his parents, and loss of his home and sister, Thomas wandered on the streets of the colony for several days. Charity from strangers kept the young child alive, until a thief who was fleeing from a botched job abducted him. Thomas was originally a hostage, but after departure from the colony, the criminal realized he abducted an orphan. Kindness from the thief gave Thomas a new home, and chance for life outside the politics and wars that plagued the colonies and planets during his childhood.
Life as a Thief
Thomas Epsilon retained his identity throughout his time aboard the Colonia Napoli. He was raised to be a thief for the criminals that gave him shelter. It did not take long for the small child to learn the ways to steal properly, and without being seen. Often he was sent to colonies to work as either an oprhen or a lost child, to steal from tourists and businessmen under the guise of being lost. While he was quite good at this, Thomas never was happy with stealing from others.
When he was not stealing or being taught to steal, Thomas was educated in other matters. Aside from being taught to fight and use firearms, Thomas was also taught to cook, clean, and cultural appreciation. His bonds that he gained from the women aboard the Naples-Asteroid gave him the drive to self-educate himself. The nights away from working, he would often read various books he would buy with the money he earned from thievery. He also was given a pair of old Russian side arms, which he would train in use to become an expert marksman. He would gain the ability to operate as an independant theif after almost a decade of hard work.
His final act for the Neopolitain Order of Thieves would be a job to steal a high end piece of technology. With the elements of war escalating throughout the solar system, military technology was worth more than precious art or jewels. The stirrings in the underground rumours gave the locations of several asteroids which contained advanced technology. These secret labs weren't any of the normal government labs, and thus were seen as easy targets. Thomas could not have been more wrong.
The asteroid bases were operated by the shadey Gemini Foundation, a xenophobic group seeking Newtype authority. The bases were research and development centers. Tom's target was the development base for cloaking and beam technology. After successfully sneaking into the base using a small ship shaped like an asteroid, Tom manuvered into a mobile suit hangar. His exit and goal were found, a grey and silver mobile suit, equiped for testing with active weapons. While Thomas's mobile suit experience was limited, he did know basic piloting skills and weapons operations. While the testing proceedures began, Thomas took his Tokarevs, and ambushed the pilot. Only the blood of the pilot masked his incursion. It was Thomas's first kill, something he would remember for a while. The Gemini agents knew who the thief was from his Newtype signature, a pattern of brainwaves first recorded when he was born. His bold action proved his strength, and his survival marked him. The Gemini agents let him escape with the suit, but he would not escape the eyes of Gemini.
Martian Enlistment and Plutonian Command
Thomas ventured into Martian airspace with the stolen Gemini Prototype. The Confederacy immediately put Thomas into custody, not realizing exactly what they had. The deFacto Generalissmo Alexander Whitewolf was called in specially to observe the prisioner, where he realized that the pilot was a newtype piloting a Gemini Suit. This revelation was kept secret with-in the Confederation, since Martians were divided over the Newtype issue and largely unaware of the Gemini foundation. Thomas was placed with several other newtype pilots, however his true name was hidden from everyone else. This was because his last name was a greek letter, which was indicative of relation to newtype slaves sent to Jupiter by the Earth.
The Martians accepted Thomas under the Alias 'Angel of Death', a moniker common around pilots. He excelled in the Martian piloting program, learning about what his natural limits were and how being a Newtype made him different. The Martian Confederation also benefitted from the Gemini prototype, which was labeled Shadow Blade by the engineers. Both would see action in a short time with the looming threat of the Lightning Wave. The 'Angel of Death' was put with Wingman Ashe Marquise, a relative of Martian founder Zechs Marquise's royal family. The two excelled against the Mobile Dolls of the Lightning Wave, which along with Tsum Katago and Enigma Ichime formed what would become known as the Four Horsemen of Mars. During the battles with the Lightning Dolls, Thomas became friends with a ICS pilot named Kari Shiro. Since Mars and Io had allied to battle the force threatening the Asteroid Belt, the two began to associate more closely.
The new Four Horsemen would be promoted due to their excelling service, and became the Marine Commanders of the Martian Warship Apocalypse commissioned to watch over Martian science installations in the Plutonian orbit. This command came under the United Plutonian Directorate issued by Alexander Whitewolf on January 15 AC 260. It was under his service aboard the Apocalypse that Thomas's life would change drastically.
After a defeat to Gemini forces under the command of Imperious and further sorties with the Io Colonial Senate, Tsum Katago resigned as leader of the Apocalypse, handing the title over to Thomas. He moved up to the challenge, but was set back by one of his soldiers and an enemy. On May 31 AC 260 Kaneda Mitsurugi, a Marine under Thomas's command, intervened in another Plutonian's fight with the now unfriendly ICS on behalf of Kari Shiro. Kaneda killed his ally to protect the enemy, whom he also had affection for. The decision to try Mitsurugi for treason was difficult, but an unavoidable reality of command. A result from the trial caused the distrust of Thomas by the crew of the Apocalypse and Mitsurugi's escape to Jupiter. In disgrace, Tom retreated to Mars to aid in its build up for an attack on the Earth.
Soldier Leo
On the eve of July 14, AC 260 Mars planned its invasion of the Earth, with Thomas serving as a Colonel for the Main attack group. Along side Tom, Enigma Ichime served as his wing-man also resigning from service aboard the Apocalypse to head the invasion. During the battle, Gemini interjected on Earth's behalf. In the process, both Thomas and Enigma were abducted by Gemini to serve as Zodiacs.
Under the transformation process, Thomas was physically and genetically altered. His DNA was partially rewritten with gene-therapy and his muscles were reconditioned to optimal efficiency. His memory was erase, and instead replaced with intense knowledge of physical combat and advanced Mobile Suit piloting techniques. To further change him, the Gemini scientists darkened his skin with ultra-violet light and shaved his head. Soldier Leo was drastically different than Thomas Epsilon, who was believed dead by Mars. In his recuperation in an Atrium at Gemini's Twilight City, Tom met his sister. While Alyssa knew exactly who Tom was, Soldier Leo was not aware he even had sister.
Soldier Leo was given control of the Heru, a relative to the prototype he had stolen from Gemini two years ago. His first mission as a Zodiac was in helping suppressing the LaGrange Pointe Council on August 6, AC 260. In the battle an old weapon of the past not used for many years was unleashed on colonies, a nuclear weapon. The weapons were banned throughout the Sengoku Jidai period because of their incredibly destructive nature. This did not stop the Gemini Foundation from using them on the Colonies. Soldier Leo was charged with overseeing several of the Omega-Class Missile. The battle is a resounding Gemini victory, and Soldier Leo is given a first taste of genocide.
Nearly a month after his abduction and subsequent reconstruction, Soldier Leo was unleashed. His first missions exported him out to the Saturn Colonies. During Gemini's time on the Earth's Moon, several colonies began to break free from alliance to Gemini, something that Leo was sent specifically to deal with. After assassinating several local leaders, Thomas met a prostitute named only Felicia who also shared a distaste for the bosses of Saturn. Working together on several hits, the pair gained attention of other Gemini agents, who in turn revealed the partnership to Hyas Polydeuces. The chairman knew of Tom's original affection to wards Kari Shiro, and the resemblance of Kari and Felicia physically seemed to be too close for his comfort. Soldier Leo was recalled after stability had returned to Saturn, but the affect that love had on the Zodiac conditioning would begin crack.
Thomas continued his career leading troops against Mars and the Alliance, participating in the major battles until the night of September 20, AC 260. A moment of passion erupted between Soldier Leo and Kari Shiro while both were quite inebriated at the time. After the rendevous, the conditioning that the Gemini foundation forced upon Tom shattered. The confusion left Tom to attack Kari on a building's roof and run back to the Gemini Foundation. It was in this act that Tom was betrayed by Hyas Polydeuces at a dinner, and Soldier I would vanish. The original Tom was placed in Bunker L.D. 220 under Twilight City. It was after this that Tom would no longer exist as Soldier Leo or Tom Epsilon, replaced by the Gemini Clone Thomas Epsilon II.
