The Alcázar asteroid is home to The United Naval Academy for the Progess of Humanity (UNAΦ).
History
To aid AWARE's progress as peacekeepers, an Academy was opened to train a new generation of soldiers to serve the people. The United Naval Academy for the Progess of Humanity (UNAΦ) was developed under term IV of the AWARE Treaty to be constructed from the former resource satellite used by GHOST called AO-1802, known as Asteroid Alcázar throughout the GHOST war with Eudora. The satellite was pulled into the orbit of Eudora (AKA Midgard) on July 24, AC 279 and operations began to convert the asteroid into the AWARE's premier academy for mobile suit pilots. Since the beginning of construction of UNAΦ, the construction crews dubbed the Academy 'The Rock', in reference to the fact that the academy was constructed from a tunneled asteroid.
Meaning of the Name
An alcázar is a Spanish castle, from the Arabic word القصر al qasr meaning palace or fortress, from the Latin castellum "fortress" (ultimately from castrum "watchpost"). Many cities in Spain have an alcázar.
