Neha

From Egs Mayhem

by nokvok

Name: Neha
Age: 30-40?
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Height: 5'5"
Theme:

Appearance:
Neha likes to dress as ordinary as possible, simple clothes, cheap armor, hair bound to a shock. She seems somewhere between 30 and 40 years of age, her skin is pale and sickly, her eyes usually bloodshot and she breathes a little rustling. Aside from that there isn't much outstanding about her.
Her original Hair color is blond and her eyes are a watery blue, but she likes to alter both from time to time with her magic.

Abilities:
Despite her casual looks, Neha is a powerful mage, with a wide variety of spells to choose from. Mastered: Elementals - She summons fireballs, small floods and brings rocks to live to rage in battle. In General the greater the effect is, the more time it takes to summon it. This reaches from a mere second for a bolt of ice up to half a battle to bring down a rain of meteors.
The longer the effect, and the more often she casts spell in succession, the more drained she will be, about as much as an elite fighter will get fatigued from battle.
Proficient: Illusions - Invisibility, Blinding lights, Doppelgangers, Visions, Phantom voices... oh, she's good at using those 'tricks' to make fighters make fatal mistakes in a fight, or just to scare she crap out of people or suddenly look very intimidating. But someone with good knowledge of thaumatology can spot and identify the tricks. Illusions require a certain amount of concentration, so casting anything beside an Illusion is hard, not impossible, but hard.
Proficient: Protection Spells - Spells used to avert or reflect Magical attacks and influences. Simple spells simply add to the natural resistance, more advanced spells reflect magic of a certain kind back at the attacker. Protection Spells drain on the casters stamina continuously, and even if it isn't much, supporting multiple protection spells does limit a Mage's ability to recover quickly.

Personality:
She's a bit Paranoid, and lone-ish. She's adopted the philosophy that the strong and clever are meant to rule. In her eyes mercy isn't a weakness, but a tool to create loyalty in the simple minded. Allies and followers only add to the strong ones power. But in the end it does hamper your true ambitions.
Neha prefers to go unnoticed whenever possible, trying to weave her web from behind the scenes.
Aside from that she's pretty much colorless, adapting fairly easily to people, situations, cultures and behavior. This makes it hard to judge her... intentionally so.
Sure is however that she is out for her own good and doesn't know any true loyalty.

Background:
Neha's youth was not pleasant, born very poor she ended up ditching school and stealing for food and money. At least, until a Mage noticed her Talent and offered her parents a couple gold coins as compensation for taking the child into his care.
Since then she's suffered under the harsh treatment and teachings of her Mentor and Master. Learning the way of the Magic. She was especially good with the Elements. However her Mentor kept her low, not allowing her to learn what she wanted, instead kept her focussed on aiding him in the household and with the larger rituals.
Well, she poisoned him. Took over the tower and began to learn from his books and writings on her own.
Well learned and prepared.. but broke... she ended up joining a gang of traveling adventures. And adventuring they did, fighting, looting, exploring... it still wasn't a happy time. Her companions were irresponsible and reckless. Neha ended up being injured many times, especially since it is custom to attack the enemy's mages first it seems. She ended up parting with the group after they decided on another very reckless plan... of course she did so without announcement in the middle of a worm cave... with the groups treasure.
A few years Neha wandered about, stealing, betraying, learning... without real ambitions, but with the strong will to be rich and powerful.
She met the Bandits a year ago. Neha was traveling with a group of traders... for mutual protection.
The bandits came in the night, only a few, but they were fierce and fast and strong. Neha woke barely in time to get to her senses and cast a wall of fire around herself, burning one of the Night Stalkers' arm.
It is probably due to Naill's business sense and preference for women that this didn't end in a short, violent fight, but an offer.
Since then Neha is part of the bandits, and often used to ward off enemy mages or as 'wall breacher' when a quick, violent entrance is needed.
