GFDL stands for "GNU Free Documentation License". Content on Wikipedia is licensed under GFDL. It is a project of the Free Software Foundation; FSF is closely associated with the Linux operating system.

GFDL is an early form of "copyleft", a reaction to traditional restrictive copyright. It gives readers the right to copy, redistribute and modify a work, even for commercial purposes, but all copies and derivative works must be licensed under the same terms.

Legal criticisms of GFDL have been made, mostly of a technical nature. GFDL was developed to license documentation accompanying open-source software, the latter licensed under the related GNU Public License (GPL).

Original Eagle House Toolbox content is released to the public under the more modern Creative Commons CC-BY-SA 3.0 license. This is considered to be slightly less restrictive. Some content here is taken from Wikipedia and related sources and is licensed under GFDL.

In both cases, your basic rights and duties are similar: You are free to copy, modify, and distribute all content (except where specifically stated otherwise) for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. You are required to attribute all copies or derivatives (work based on our content); and you must impose these requirements on all subsequent users.
