SKRY

The SKRY were King Regitous's secret agents, his special forces against the plots which often embroiled his realm. The SKRY were never of any specific type or creed. They were guardsmen, adventurers, even simple shopkeepers. But each one was the same in one respect- each had sworn their lives and their souls to service of the realm.

Each member of the SKRY was identified by a tatoo on the arm, of the word SKRY in various fonts (some have theorized that the font says something about the person beneath it). This tatoo was applied magically when an agent took the special oath of fealty, and was said to be invisible except to the right people (preventing SKRY from being exposed by a simple body search).

The Mark of SKRY was also thought to have lent its bearer certain powers. These powers were largely technical in nature, meant to aid the SKRY in ferriting out trouble in the realm, and veried depending on the nature of the agent, and his assignments. One group was recorded to have the ability to detect evil auras, and communicate telepathically. However, these powers were simply icing on the cake. What truly made a SKRY a SKRY wasn't the powers he had, but the strength of his vow, and the integrity of his service.

Many people have speculated on what SKRY stands for. The going theory in the pubs and back alleys is that it stood for "Secrets Keeping Regitous's Youth", which suggests that there was an even deeper duty to which SKRY were held, pertaining to something in Regitous's youth. Whether this interpretation is actually true, or just something to keep the conspiracy-monger's tongues wagging is another story altogether.
