My deepest apologies for the sudden announcement of your marriage. I would try to console you here, but knowing you, you're 'probably either laughing with my inability to drop formalities in a letter to my own daughter or sharpening your katana to test your fiancé's mettle.

I don't mind if you have some fun with him but do make sure he stays in one piece. He is working on a project of the greatest importance for our country. I am afraid that I cannot disclose the details on what his work is about in a letter, even if it is confidential. Safe to say our country will prosper if he completes his work, this is also the reason his research can under no circumstances leave the country. It is unlikely intervention will be needed, but I trust you to keep an eye on any of Lord Ruairi's dealings to make certain nothing is leaked. If the neighboring countries were to learn of this project they would spare no effort to acquire it for themselves or, failing that, destroy it.

This is why I have destroyed any records about him and his research that were kept in the tower of magi and forced them to stop any surveillance of his activities. I have dispatched some of my magically skilled royal guards to the spot to keep an eye on him instead. If some of his magical works seem strange to you feel free to contact them in the usual manner.
