Eikura Harukami (nee Fumino), better known by her stage name Dll Ini (born Feburary 24, 1988), is an Japanese singer, actress and songwriter. Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan and performing in singing and dancing competitions as a child, she began her music career when she was scouted by entertainment agency Clumsy Media to become a trainee. Managed later by the sub-label which later became independant, she became one of Japan's best-selling solo female artists of all time. Her career was firmly established in the industry with her second album "Liar Liar Liar" earned her five Golden Disk Japan Awards and several other winnings and nominations across the system that year.

Harukami has also ventured into acting, with a Golden Globe nominated performance in A Terminal Trust (2012), and starring roles in A Taste of Honey (2011) and Doroctor (2012). Her relationship and marriage also influenced her fourth album Marriage Songs, which saw the birth of her being viewed as one of the most influential peformers. The album earned her a record-setting eleven Golden Disk Japan nominations, including Song and Artist of the Year.

A self-described "modern day feminist", Harukami's songs are often characterized by themes of love, relationships and monogamy, as well as female sexuality and empowerment.

Early life

Harukami was born in Tokyo, Japan as Eikura Fumino the daughter of Hataino Fumino, a sales manager and Eita Fumino (née Hamasaki) who has Chinese and Irish ancestry.

She was first educated at Nishimachi International School in the located in the Azabu area of Tokyo, Japan, where she was part of the school choir as the youngest ever member to be selected at the time, a first grade elementary student. Her singing talent was discovered when her vocal instructor began humming a song and she finished it, hitting the high-pitched notes. Her interest in music and performing continued after winning a school talent show aged eleven, singing John Lennon's "Imagine" to beat 15 and 16-year-olds.

Career

2008-2011: Casting, debut album and rising popularity

Fumino was discovered by Clumsy Media when she was twenty years old by a talent scout who as acting as a guest judge at her university's talent show. She was trained in singing for eight months and made her debut in 2009 with the studio album 悲しみ. Despite a low budget investment from the company and as a result a short promotion period, it received critical acclaim and commerical success. It made a chart-topping debut across all music charts in Japan and was in first chart position for eight consecutive weeks. For her achievements Fumino was nominated for several year end recognitions and ultimately won Music Japan's Ground Breaking New Artist award and later MTVS Best R&B Act.

In 2010 her second studio album Liar Liar Liar was released on February 12, it would go on to become her highest critically acclaimed release. It reached first position on iTunes Music Japan Digital Download Chart and Oricorn Music Chart debuting in third place. In October Fumino released her first digital single Chill, it was less commerically successful as the previous two release but nevertheless deepened her popularity and brought in above average reviews. In December Fumino made her firsr acting appearance through a cameo appearance in the hit drama A Taste of Honey.

In March 2011 her first mini album Felix was released with the title track peaking in first chart position and later in July her second digital single Mochi. It would become her most acclaimed and commerically successful single to date and her first single to debut in first position. On 13th September, a tracklist was revealed by Fumino on her official website and her third studio album Country Circus was released online on September 27, an offline the very next day. In order to produce the exact sound of ballad and semi-pop she aimed at, she personally went through many potential composers' under ground work and picked the best to work on this album together, namely Rainy Days, Acome and sweet potato. The general public gave an average of 62% for the album, Fumino's lowest score but would be her second highest selling album at more than 520,000 copies, digital and physical sales combined on the first day. By the end of the year she took home MTV's Best Solo Artist and Best Album accolades as well as Music Station's Best Selling Single Album, Highest Winning Single and Most Influential Artist.

2012-2013: Acting debut, critical consolidation and marriage

In April 2012 Fumino announced her engagement and her fourth album, Marriage Songs was also officially announced on the same day with production reported to have started rigt after the release of the last album. Fumino admits her future husband to be the main source of inspiration for the album and revealed he's a government official and will not disclose his identity to protect his private life.

On May 10, Fumino released her third digital single Wedding March as a teaser track to the upcoming album and featured label mate Ophelia who also produced the track. It was able to debut in first position, becoming her second chart peaking single. By the end of the month, it was the highest selling single that year until it was surpassed in August.

The album was released digitally and offline on May 27. The album was met with great commercial success, becoming her best-selling album to date. It sold 601,985 copies in its debut week, topping the Oricon Weekly Albums Chart. Four months later, the album was certified Million by the Recording Industry Association of Japan for shipments of over one million copies including oversea sales. At one point it was the highest selling album of 2012 for three months.It was also extremely well received by music critics, it was able to receive an average of 80% per score, an increased 18% from her last album but was unable to beat the score high of 87% reached by the second album. Professionals praised her improvement in music style and feature artist choices.

In September Fumino made her second acting appearance in the two-episodes special drama Doroctor and made her official acting debut a month later through the medical thriller film A Terminal Trust. Shooting for the film ran from October through mid-December, 2011 in locations such as Kitakyushu and the national movie studio. The film was a critical success with mid-commerical response, winning the Grand Prize at the 67th Mainichi Film Awards. Fumino's acting received positive feedback and was nominated for the newcomer category.

On March 17, 2013 Fumino married in a closed private ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Tokyo but in a pre-wedding press conference in which only Fumino attended, she announced she will be taking a short hiatus in order to enjoy marriage life and failed to set a return date.
