Hiroshi's father. Age 65. Like his son and his grandson, Shin-chan, he enjoys looking at pretty young women. He also likes to do weird things and rituals with his grandson. His appearance in the show is relatively more common than other minor characters. As with Shin-chan, he is affectionately called Gin-chan. One of his many jokes in the series is dressing up as a movie character whenever Hiroshi and his family comes to visit them, such as Neo from The Matrix or Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean. Another running gag in the series is that whenever he announces to the family that he would visit them (either by phone or post), then he suddenly appears out of nowhere afterwards, shocking the family.  In the Taylor Media version, Shin discovers that he's a coke junkie.

Nohara family's other neighbor. His family and Shin-chan's family got to know each other for the first time on a trip to Hawaii. After the trip, they moved next door to Shin-chan's family. He and his wife sometimes annoy Shin-chan's parents. They are also a couple of unusual conventions and display of affections, which contrasts the earlier Japanese generations. They are easily excited by new and first-time things, such as being robbed the first time and having the police over for investigation. He sometimes goes to Hiroshi for advice. This is the list of Shin Chan and the California Stimps characters as dictated by its original incarnation produced by Taylor Media Entertainment and Crayon Films as well as any minor edited versions.

Shin Nohara

Male, 5 years old. He plays practical jokes on a lot of people. He tormented his friends, parents and teachers, but was friendly to Adam, Matt, and Mackie. He also gives important tips to the viewers. In the Special "Kid Fighter Hero", Shin acts as a sidekick to Josh-chan. Although he doesn't serve the role as Ham Kahn's trainee.

Mitzi Nohara

The mother of the Nohara family.

Hiro Nohara

Father of the Nohara family, and its sole source of income.

Hima Nohara

The youngest child of the Nohara family. Turned into a teenager one time in "Teenage Hima" when she got a hold of Josh's herbal remedy.

Chiro

A white, fluffy pup Shin-chan found in a cardboard box early in the series. While a beloved member of the family, he is the subject of neglect thanks to his owner's forgetfulness and short attention-span. He is a very intelligent dog, often presenting logic and intellect that surpasses his human owners. As his meals from the Nohara's are at best inconsistent, and at worst far-between, he has developed a venerable talent for forging and scavenging to survive days without meals. An oddly human dog, he is very responsible and painstakingly careful.

Marcie Koyama

Misae's older sister. Age 35. She is still single. She starts getting Shin lots of affection.

Musa Koyama Misae's younger sister. Age 26. Musa is a housing manager.

Gin Nohara Hiroshi's father. Age 65. coke junkie as Shin discoved.

Robert McGuire Josh-chan's sophisticated pen-pal who share their common minorities and shows off their secret handshake. Robert's languge is fluent Engrish.

Georgie Kazama

Shin-chan's immaculately groomed and perfectly mannered friend.

Penny Sakurada Shin-chan's female classmate and friend.

Masa Sato one of Shin-chan's friends. He has a super-sensitive feeling and makes riots.

Po Another of Shin-chan's friends, he seems slow and expressionless, but is actually quite smart and has an interest in artistic, adult-oriented things. He often surprises his friends with his insight, though he speaks quite slowly. He always has a trail of snot running down his nose. In the Taylor Media Version, Po is named after a teletubby.

Ai-chan Ai-chan is a relatively newer character addition to the show who began appearing on October 12, 1999. She sleepwalks and wants Shin for her birthday.

Dori Anderson Shin-chan's teacher. Age 24. She teaches the Dead Flower class until she and her husband moved to Hill Valley, California, USA to teach Special Ed to the disabled.

Doyle Anderson Midori's husband. Age 24. A nice, easy going man who gets along fine with Shin Chan and his friends and they in tend like him as well. He has been portrayed as someone with a lack of confidence problem. This is true when he wanted to propose to Midori.On the eve of their wedding, problems began to arise and on the coveted day it gets worse when it began to rain. Midori was heartbroken but Ishizaka, with a little encouraging words from Shin Chan, bravely grabbed Midori and declare his love for her in the rain.

Katzie Matsuzaka (Taylor Media) Arch-rival of Dori Anderson and Josh Taylor, teacher of the Wildflower Class. Age 24. Single. She tutors Shin and is often called "Miss Katzie" by Shin and Josh. Despite her new rivalry with Josh, she rejects his crush who offers her on a date and mocks him. However, deep down she cares for Josh after he saved her fall from the balcony of the apartment despite of her being drunk. Katzie moves in with Josh, after she got evicted from her apartment caused by Shin's science experiment with alcohol and matches which started a fire. Katzie's sisters disapproves of Josh's love for her. They also intend to forbid her from ever living with Josh by lying to him that she's in love with a rich man causing Josh to distance himself from her. Katzie tries to clear things up by explaining that she never dated a rich man, but Josh refused to believe and left her with a heartbreak despite of their shaken relationship. However, Josh and Katzie are reunited once again with a little encouraging speech from Shin Chan. In the Special "Kid Fighter Hero", Katzie remains unaware of her actions as Feline Mistress, the evil villian, rival of Kid Fighter Hero, and her alter ego. Later in the special, she learns the fact that Josh-chan is Kid Fighter Hero and decides to fight alongside with him.

Marge Matsuzaka Katzie's eldest sister. Age 28.

Tammy Matsusaka Katzie's second eldest sister. Age 26. She often appears alongside her elder sister, Matsu, to fight over Ume's new boyfriend. In contrast to Matsu's traditional Japanese-style attire, Take is often prone to Western gaudiness.

Polly Ageo (Taylor Media))

A teacher at the Meadow Fields Kindergarten. Age 23. She teaches the Mayflower Class and struggles to keep her job by letting Shin teach her class.

Ench Takakura (Taylor Media) The principal of Meadow Fields Kindergarten who wanted to end his career as a principal in "Funhouse Ench" and move to retirement, but enjoyed being a principal

Patty Sakurada (Taylor Media)) Penny's mother. Age 28.

Miss Mineko (Taylor Media)) Georgie's mother. She has the appearance of a rich man's wife. She has her son Kazama-kun do many extracurricular activities such as learning English, playing piano, swimming, jazz dancing etc. She also likes to try to make younger men swoon by her looks and fashion. Unlike Moeko, Mineko is not unruffled by Shin-chan easily, and prefers to stay out of his way when they happen to meet.

Mr. Kuro (Taylor Media)) Ai-chan's bodyguard and driver. He always wears a black tuxedo suit and sunglasses. He is very obedient to Ai-chan's orders. Most of time its because she had found out his dark deeds. He has dated Ageo-san, a Futaba kindergarten teacher. He hides while Ai-chan is in class (for example, in the top of the playfield's trees, but Shin-chan always finds him out.

Ham Kahn In the Special "Kid Fighter Hero", Ham Kahn is Josh-chan's reluctant trainer and tries to warn Josh-chan not to get involved in a relationship with Feline Mistress, but later materializes a transformation watch for Katzie after she has accepted Feline Mistress as part of herself, knowing that she will no longer cause mischief. In the end of the special, he becomes a lifeless drawing after Josh-chan's final battle but is restored to his true form with the last ounce of Josh and Katzie's powers. It is assumed that Ham Kahn goes to various places telling the legacy of Josh-chan becoming Kid Fighter Hero.

Shinko Nohara Shin's future daughter (and Hima's future niece) who appears in Season 4 and the movie "A History of Unnecessary Acts" through a time portal.

There was a time when the Nohara family moved into apartments called Broken Apartments. They were forced to rent an apartment when the house was being auctioned.

Summer Kutsuzoko She is the 18-year-old Japanese-American mother of a 2-year-old daughter. Her actions and style reflect the Japanese younger generation. She is Shin's babysitter.

Paris Kutsuzoko She is the 2-year-old Japanese-American daughter of Summer. Her personality is seen to be geared towards an obsessively trend-conscious teenager.


Josh "Josh-Chan" Taylor aka Mr. Taylor Newest Meadow Fields Kindergarten staff member. Age 24. He first appeared in the episode "Shin Gets Blamed" can literally be annoyed at his own discretion, which is his key personality trait in the show. He is the new teacher for the Dead Flower class since Dori moved to Hill Valley. At first, Josh learns that Shin is a delinquent. During his attempt to get make Shin behave, we learned that he impersonates Shin by wearing a cosplay mask. Josh finally overcomes Shin's misbehavior with Katzie's help. Shin soon develops good behavior but everything goes wrong when Shin ran away after Josh was being put up with his delinquency amd forced him to leave the Kindergarten, leading to a sorrowful event from the teachers, friends, and parents. Josh defends Katzie from being treated like she's Cinderella by her sisters. He disguises under the name V-Man after a mysterious incident caused him to be gigantic and was challenged by Shin who is known as Kilochan to a Kermit Kombit in the virtual grid. He is preferred to be called "Josh-chan" only after school, weekends, and Spring Breaks. In the Special "Kid Fighter Hero", Josh-chan was sent off by Principal Ench to deliver a package to the Nohara residence, and discovers that the house was actually empty, who then encounters Mimi-chan. Mimi-chan explains that Masked Fighter Hero had left Japan on an extended world tour and effectively disappeared while she takes care of Shin after his parents went on an anniversary cruise, got lost in a typhoon and was never to be found. As a result, he doesn't have any parents. Josh agrees to help find Masked Fighter Hero and reunite Shin with his parents. Josh was given a transformation watch that would allow him to change into Kid Fighter Hero. He was also given Ham Kahn (Buriburizaemon) as his trainer.

Kaoruko "Ruko" Taylor Josh's little sister from Hill Valley and likes to be called Miss Ruko by Shin and Ruko by Josh. Age 23. She first appeared in the 2nd movie "School Trippin'" and in Episode 52 "A Sister from Hill Valley".

Gluko Rodriguez Josh-chan's former student from Hill Valley and Shin's friend. Age 18. She first appeared in the 4th movie "Extremely Shin-Chan". She is referred to as Cutie Gluko and sometimes stay over at Josh-chan's apartment during Spring Break and summer holidays.

Haruko Rodriguez
