House Baratheon is the youngest of the Great Houses.

Currently the head of the house is Robert I, King of the Seven Kingdoms. His younger brothers Stannis and Renly hold Dragonstone and Storm's End.

House Baratheon was founded by Orys Baratheon, rumored to be the bastard brother of Aegon the Dragon, during the Wars of Conquest. Orys rose through the ranks and became one of Ageon's fiercest commanders. After defeating and slaying Argilac the Arrogant, last of the Storm Kings, he was rewarded with Argilac's castle Storm's End, lands and daughter. Orys adopted the banners, honors and words of her line.

Robert Baratheon went to the Eyrie as ward of Jon Arryn, Lord of the Eyrie together with Eddard Stark

Aerys II Targaryen, King of the Seven Kingdoms demanded the heads of Eddard Stark and Robert Baratheon from Lord Jon Arryn. He revolted instead.

283 AL Robert killed Prince Rhaegar Targaryen in battle on the Trident.

Stannis Baratheon sailed to Dragonstone with his new-built fleet only to find that Ser Willem Darry had fled with Viserys III Targaryen and Daenerys Targaryen to Braavos

290 AL King Robert's second son Tommen was born.

The Hand of the King, Jon Arryn, Lord of the Eyrie, fell ill and died after a short while. Unable to save him, Grand Maester Pycelle gave Jon milk of the poppy to ease the pain. His wife Lysa and son Robert travelled back to the Eyrie.

King Robert decided to travel north with the royal family to see Eddard Stark, Lord of Winterfell. Ser Jaime Lannister and Tyrion Lannister were among those following the king.
