A feast was held in the Great Hall of Winterfell. The royal family entered the hall in procession, Lord Stark first escorting the queen followed by King Robert and Lady Stark. Then came the children, Rickon, Robb and Myrcella, Arya and Tommen and Sansa and Joffrey. After them came Ser Jaime and Tyrion Lannister. Last came Benjen Stark and Theon Greyjoy. Lord and Lady Stark hosted the king and queen on a raised platform beneath which sat the Stark and royal children.

Ser Jaime of House Lannister, called the Kingslayer, is the first son and heir to Tywin Lannister, Lord of Casterly Rock and Lady Joanna. Queen Cersei is his twin sister. He is a member of the Kingsguard.

His mother Joanna died giving birth to his brother, the dwarf Tyrion Lannister.

283 AL He killed Aerys II Targaryen, King of the Seven Kingdoms in the throne room during the Sack of King's Landing.

After the sudden death of the Hand of the King, Jon Arryn, Lord of the Eyrie Robert Baratheon, King of the Seven Kingdoms decided to travel north with the royal family to see Eddard Stark, Lord of Winterfell. Jaime was among those following the king.
