Pyrodeus is the Angel of Fire, and one of the main protagonists of Blades of the Apocalypse. Despite his 8,000 years of experience with human nature, Pyrodeus remains trusting almost to the point of gullibility. He is also very idealistic, willing to raise arms against evil without thinking twice about his own personal safety.

History

Warning: Spoilers below.

Approximately 8 millennia ago, the Archangels were charged with creating new Guardians of the Gate, able to battle at full strength regardless of distance from the gates of Heaven. Four of the five archangels (the exception being Azrael) created their own Warrior Angels in accordance with their elemental inclination. Gabriel created Hyrdodurus (Angel of Water), Michael created Pyrodeus (Angel of Fire), Raphael created Gisichros (Angel of Earth), and Uriel created Ventusamplus, the Angel of Wind. This would even the balance of power from a strong advantage for Hell to a level playing field. However, God desired the balance to be tipped in Heaven's favor. He created four additional Warrior Angels of his own volition: Cryodivus (Angel of Ice), Fulminerus (Angel of Lightning), Silexops (Angel of Stone), and Aurumagnus (Angel of Gold). Pyrodeus was one of only two Warrior Angels to survive the battle between the Warrior Angels and Sons of Plunder, the other being Cryodivus.

Between the first and second appearances of the Sons of Plunder, Pyrodeus slept with an Etrahn woman named Tamina, impregnating her. Shortly after Pyrodeus' return to Heaven, Tamina gave birth to Visignis.

Pyrodeus has recently completed Magres Xerfal successfully, ascending him to the level of a demigod. His abilities have increased exponentially, and while he can be defeated in battle he can only be truly killed with his own sword (an exceptionally difficult task, since he can make his sword disappear at will).

Weapons, Powers and Abilities

Pyrodeus has nearly limitless pyrokinetic abilities. He has angelic level physical strength, endurance, and reflexes which he can increase to undefined levels when tapping into his true power, causing his body to burst into flames and remain ablaze until he chooses to return to normal, exhausts himself, or is knocked unconscious. When in this form, Pyrodeus is able to create magical alloys of differing colors anmd properties depending on the color of flames he chooses to emanate.

He is also an exceptionally talented blacksmith and gunsmith, able to use his powers of fire manipulation and his ability to create and manipulate angelic alloys to create weapons with unheard of reliability, accuracy (in the case of firearms), and durability. He is also able to imbue weapons with fiery energy, or fuse artifacts into the weapon giving it the powers or properties of the artifact used. Pyrodesu has, on at least one occasion, made a weapon impossible to wield except by its intended user, who would be able to use it effortlessly, as though it were nearly weightless.

Pyrodeus has all manner of weapons available to him in his Forge, but he almost exclusively fights with a sword he forged for himself long ago. The sword can be summoned or disappear at Pyrodeus' will, accompanied by a flame burst each time it appears or disappears.
