Humans (Homo Sapiens) are a derivative of the Homo genus, and one of the most prolific races in the galactic cluster. They are bipedal, possess a vast intellect, and have the ability to create tools and technology to accomplish a goal. The most notable trait of humanity has been their adaptability, and their ability to change both themselves and the environment to suit their needs. The biggest bastion of humanity is the Galactic Federation, though they have been found naturally on various planets through most of the local galaxies.

History

Mysterious Origins

The origin of humanity has always been a much debated topic. They are most common in the Sapia Galaxy (which takes the name of their species), leading many to believe that they originated there. Currently, the scientific community is divided between three main theroies.

1. The Terra Theory: This theory follows the long standing theory of the human homeworld of Terra, from which all humanity can derive itself to. This theory states that humanity evolved on that world, and obtained space travel in an indeterminate age (ranging from 1 to 4 billion BZ). From there, humans spread out and settled across the universe. This theory states that that various unknown ruins dating 3 billion BZ were the remains of this sudden burst of humans. The dominance of humans ended after an event known as the Scattering, where civilization simply stopped. Many attribute this event to an invasion of Dark Perforation or the Galdenthane, but there is no solid evidence to support either. From there, the second wave of human societies eventually arose.

2. The Titan Theory: Recent developments concerning the creation of the universe have uncovered details about the Titans, vast god-like beings who roamed the dimensional plains and forged entire realities. Salvaged Titan relics state that there were three primary creations they seeded the stars with; the Lorekeepers, who are thought to have evolved into the Celestial Architects, the Divine, who remained as the ScryAldor, and the Guardians, who bear a very human-like bone structure. This theory states that from the Guardians, every Homo genius creature arose. Sapiens, being highly adaptable, was the species that was most common among the evolutionary outcroppings of the Guardians.

3. The Mana Theory: A theory first established by Archmage Antonias of the ancient Universal College of Magic, this evolutionary theory has been adopted (and modified) by the Church of the Light, and is one of the less believed of the three theory’s. The original theory stated that humans were created on planets where mana leaked into this reality, or where two streams crossed. It was because of this high saturation of mana that life formed, and humans evolved as a natural mechanism to control that magic. The Church of the Light modified this theory in mid 2005, stating the humanity was created on planets where a light and dark mana stream crossed, symbolizing the moral ambiguity of the species.

In addition, different prevalent cultures and religious groups identify humanity as being created by some divine presence, be it a god or by nature. Some species regard them as a virus that corrupts the stars, due to their highly adaptive nature and their ability to overpopulate a world in a relatively short period of time. The evolution of humanity is a highly debated topic to this day, and even moreso after the existance of the Titans was confirmed in early 2010.

Diaban and the Galactic Federation

Though human empires were constant throughout history, the the largest and most prominent was the Galactic Order of Diaban. This race of humans progressed to space travel around 8,000 BZ, and created a functioning FTLT system (The Dominik-Franko Faster-Than-Light System) several centuries later. From there, the Diabanian humans would spread out across the Sapia Galaxy, eventually absorbing every major power in the galaxy to form the Galactic Order of Diaban. The Galactic Order remained uncontested, absorbing the millions of non-human races and allowing most of them their own culture.

Humanity under the Order made up most of the ruling class, and in its early days xenophonia was common. It would take a powerful Xeno Rights Movement in 2,430 BZ to finally establish full rights for non-humans. Despite this, many cultures refused to assimilate, some going into outright rebellion. Even today the Sapia Galaxy is constantly in flux over the issue of human dominance, with several isolated insurrections being fought over the topic.

One of humanity's greatest realizations came after the creation of the Reality Rift FTL drive, which allowed for feasible travel to the distant Cremia Galaxy. There the Order discovered not only an abundance of life, but a large quantity of human civilizations far away from their supposed homeland. The Order aided support to these civilizations against the encroaching Kriken Empire, a conflict which would be known as the First Kriken Surge. These civilizations were eventually absorbed into the Order. Hundreds of years later the Order would again discover human life in the Helios Galaxy.

At 0 BZ, the Order would undergo a radical change in structure and leadership. After the Diaban Reformation, the Galactic Order of Diaban would become the Galactic Federation, now in control of four galaxies and establishing colonies in two others. The Galactic Federation would remain as the primary power bastion for humanity.

Humans were again found during the Federation's expansion to the Starlight Galaxy in the late 1800s. Pockets of primitive civilizations were located on Pokeworld, and a fully functioning government consisting of humans and humanoid creatures was located on Star World. Pokeworld was colonized for a short time, but given up after it was considered a holding too distant. The Federation contributed technology to Star World, but following an agreement set at the start of the War on Piracy did not colonize it.

Modern Years and the Future

Humanity is a major factor in any modern civilization, having a major say in most intergalactic empires and making up a portion of most space nations who have achieved Faster Than Light Travel (FTLT). Federation Common, a language considered the primary language of the universe, was adopted in the early 1700s and is based mostly in a variety of human languages. Because of the Galactic Federation's immense power and say in the Alliance of Worlds, human interests have always been looked after, and many naming conventions are based in old human religion and mythology.

Because of the various humanoid offshoots from the race, there has been a question as to whether the definition of humanity applies only to the Sapiens species or to the different intelligent members of the Homo genius. This question is still up for debate, and has caused some violence from both human supremacy groups and humanoid groups.

Several incidents involving a rift into another dimension have involved contact with humans that existed in a universe completely parallel to the primary one. Whether these humans came from the same genetic stock and traveled to other dimensional planes or the dimension mirrors the Diabian one yet has different parameters is still unknown.

As for the future of humanity, there is a fear that the evolution of the species has been stagnated by the Federation's use of gene therapy and unwillingness to accept mutations as "proper" among members of society. Several time-jumps into the future has revealed that humanity may well still exist in force thousands if not millions of years from now, but such glimpses of the future are considered inaccurate by the theory that there are an infinite number of possible futures.

Characteristics and Appearance

Humans are bipedal mammal based species. They usually have a form of fiber-like hairs, primarily covering their scalp, underarms and pubic area, but in finer, nearly invisible quantities covering their entire body. Humans have two ocular organs which allow them to see light in the "visible spectrum" (wavelengths 390 to 750 nm), though some have evolved to see beyond this. Human height ranged from 1.4 to 2 meters (with some evolutionary offshoots being taller still), and can weigh 40kg-100kg.

Humans are omnivores, and can eat objects easily cultivated. Humans thrive in an oxygen rich atmosphere, and as such many planets they have arrived on have been terraformed, the process of oxygenating the atmosphere and making the land usable to cultivate crops for human consumption. The amount of already terraformed planets across the galactic cluster is one of the main arguments for the Terra Theory of human evolution.

Humans are useful with tools, and have easily malleable genes. They have been responsible for the creation variety of sentient biological and robotic species. Considered war-like by some, humans have a range of emotions usually considered to be moderate in relation to many species.

Trivia

  • Humanity was originally not a focus of the Yoshi Bodyguard Universe, rarely, if ever, appearing. Several stories created back before the canon was defined had the Yoshi Bodyguards traveling to the planet Earth. These stories, like most of the time, are considered non-canon.
  • Because of the amount of games that use Earth as a location, many of the planets have been renamed and Earth never officially stated in the canon, except as a mysterious human homeworld.
