The Fourth Wall is a tool originally used in plays where a character would address the audience. Eventually, it became any use of a character referring to how the work was fictional in some way. We here at the wiki break the fourth wall so much, it has become a sort of all-use character, and it has even been used for plots.

Examples of Breaking the Fourth Wall

General
- Omnipotent Voice-of-the-User Characters either break the fourth wall by existing or often break the fourth wall in what they say.
- Oftentimes, references to specific video games as if they really were video games are made, and various video games have even appeared, being played by some characters.
Mario & Luigi: Luigi & Mario
- Main Article: Mario & Luigi: Luigi & Mario
- Comic 1: The Life Switcher Machine; Panel 13; Top admits he had nothing planned for the series.
- The fact that this series was a comic series that was created by Top and Oshy was brought up many times.
- Comic 7: Yep, another alien attack; Panel 6; Tatanga mentions he had no overworld sprites.
- Comic 15: Final Battle; Longest Comic (Part 2); a group of Guest Stars began battling inside the Guest Star Center, which was a place to "heal" "defeated" guest stars.
Metal Wars Climax
- In Chapter 2-3: Reunion, Ultra Stuffwell swatted Metal Sneezier's Robo Drone into the camera's lens, cracking it like glass.
Paper Luigi: Pickle Star Dream
- Main Article: Paper Luigi: Pickle Star Dream
- Comic 5-4: We like to call this one the Cooking Beam!; Panel 9; Crawgrip yells "I HATE THIS COMIC!!!" just before being blasted by his own attack.
- Comic 6-1: Why is this cave green?; Panel 9; Luigi makes a reference to the size of Danny's sprite.
- Comic 6-2: WHAT IS THAT!?!?; NOA_Shaun, an administrator from NSider, is referenced to multiple times.
- Comic 7-2: Why aren't you in the battle?; Panel 7; Lord Crump mentions his lack of battle sprites as why he isn't in the battle.
- Comic 7-2: Why aren't you in the battle?; Panel 18; Luigi wonders why Bowser suddenly switched from Bacon style to M&L style.
- Comic 7-3: OMG THE INCREDIBLE LUIGILK; Panel 8; Wart complains you aren't supposed to get a first strike in battles.
- Comic 7-3: OMG THE INCREDIBLE LUIGILK; Panel 48; Luigi complains that the entire series was a waste.
Pokemon Obscure Metal
- Part 15-3: Metal Pokemon Appeared!; Lucky complained to the narrator, Wally Plotch, that he was a he, not an it.
- Part 15-4: An Electro Plan; Topmonhit admitted he forgot Whacko was supposed to go with Team TOT, then promptly telepoted him to them.
- Part 15-5: Top Can Really Take a Licking
- When Wally Plotch mentioned a giant tongue coming, Top reacted to him.
- Oshy also asks Topper if him yelling "CLAM DOWN!" is a catch phrase now.
- When Top saw Slurp, he referenced him being in a "story" and wondered how he recognized Slurp (given he looks like all other Lickitung).
- Top mentioned how Whacko was not with them the last time they appeared in the story.
- Top also mentions how they had only done dialogue so far yet they had not done anything yet.
- Oshy suggests that they ask Wally Plotch what had happened, and so he explains.
- Part 15-6: Attack of the Robot Nerd; Tig complains that EV training makes no sense, as they were not in an RPG.
- Part 15-7: Saving Silph Co.
- Top says to the author that he can start translating what Slurp says.
- Whacko complained that Topmonhit forgot about him again.
- Topper mentions Omnia Causa Fiunt, and how it was never finished.
- Part 15-8: Master of... Wait, What?
- When Oshy mentions the President (of Silph Co.), Top asks "You mean Obama?".
- Egghold complained that he was getting absolutely no lines in the story, after which The Cloud disables his speaking ability, changing him from a character to an item.
- When Top and Oshy's Team Attack fails, Topper pushes Metal Venusaur off the roof, stating they were "almost outta time anyway."
- Part 15-9: Next Time, Try Pom Pom
- Part 15-12: It’s-a-me-a, Luigia!
- Wepro comments that Mr. Okra did something not listed in his bio.
- When told he is a stock character by The Cloud, Wepro states he’s doing better than other stocks.
- Part 15-13: The Deathly Song (or) It’s Curtains For You!
- Danny mentions what happened to Team TOT earlier.
- Wepro used a smiley. Wait, does that count?
- Part 15-14: EXTERNAL LINK; Relvia forgets she’s supposed to know who Danny is.
- Part 15-22: The Commandobots (Supergiants Part)
- Tig answered Wally Plotch’s confusion.
- Wepro stated at the end that the part was brought to you by war is evil.
- Part 15-23: The World’s Strongest Robot (RP Part); Metal Top (the main antagonist) states that the time placement of the story was sheer coincidence (referencing how this story had robot Pokemon invaders, while the story that had just occured previously involved the Metal Army invading).
- Part 15-24: The Diemond; Top shouts out “Next story, Metal Top! Next storyyyyy!”
Revenge on SWDF
- Part 16-3: This Part Has the Tavern Scene. Oh, and a New Character!; Ripvor interrupted Wally, saying there would be no “CHARACTER HAS JOINED YOUR PARTY!” in the story.
- Part 16-10: The Raptor’s Tail (Doublah Part); I.M. Ugly mentions she hasn't appeared much in the last couple parts.
The Great Creator & The Great Destroyer
- Part 17-2: Life on Star World; Shi’un spoke to the readers about all the items she was carrying in the mall.
- Part 17-4: Oh Yeah, Surrender. That’d Make For An Interesting Story.
- Amphy complains that his scene with his magic trick was cut out.
- Christopher complains to Wally Plotch to use the correct pronunciation of his name.
- Part 17-6: The Invaders Make Landfall; Metal Top mentioned sending more information when the cameras weren’t watching.
- Part 17-9: Projectile Allies; Bowser replies to part of Wally Plotch’s narration.
- Part 17-23: No Minigames Here; Sneezier says that he doesn’t question the story, but just goes along with it.
- Part 17-29: Freedom!; Topper asks if a part was taken right from Story 7, which it was.
- Part 17-30: Starting a New Plan; E. Gadd says a device is too complicated for the author to come up with specifics on how it would work.
- Part 17-35: Don’t Be So Judgmental; James complained the 1-Up Mushroom was a stupid cop-out.
- Part 17-39: End of the Other Metal Kirby; Top claims his reason for not wanting a 1-on-1 fight with Metal Top is so the others can RP in the RP part.
The Legend in the Stars
- Part 19-1: Was This Scripted!?; As the name of the part suggests, the script was referenced quite often, with Topper complaining about it mostly.
Wary's Stories
- Sea of Bodies (ROB): Ein often confuses himself with the author due to the story being in first person.
- Sea of Bodies (ROB): Early on, Anna yells at the author for making her obsessed with Ein.
- In the Shadow of Jupiter: Terra keeps some information from Ein on purpose, not because he needs to learn it on his own but "because the audience needs the suspense." Ein then comments that he's proud of her for breaking the Fourth Wall.
- Ius Mystery: The narrator freely talks with both the characters and, in RP Parts, with other users. This narrator hasn't been introduced, but it's believed that he narrates other things for Wary now as well.
