Pioneer Cemetery is used as early as 1852 with Elias Briggs' children in 1866.

In 1866 Hervey Small, Edwin Powers, T.J. Brattain are selected as trustees by a town meeting in which Elias and his wife Mary Briggs executed and delivered the cemetery deeds on October 31st, 1866.

In 1872 the cemetery is plotted as Block 42.
