Lady Van Helsing/Go to the Shepheards, the most popular hotel for European travelers, and ask after Dr Finks

From Create Your Own Story

Stepping into the Shepheards Hotel is like stepping into any well-appointed hotel in England. It is in this hotel that the officers and officials that maintain Egypt's status as a possession of the Empire are housed, and where any visiting Englishman of means is sure to seek accommodations. Asking at the desk you are told that, as you expected, Dr Frinks is staying at the hotel, and is in fact in the hotel lounge at that very moment. Deciding to make contact with the Doctor immediately, you head over to the lounge.

The finely decorated lounge is nearly empty, yet it still takes you a few minutes to spot Dr Frinks, as you are barely able to recognize him. The years since you last saw him have not been kind. His once black hair has become stark white, his face is marked with lines that far exceed those expected of his few years, and his posture has become markedly worse.

Seated opposite to him at the table, talking animatedly while Dr Frinks listens, is a man of striking, almost magnetic, attractiveness. He is tall and athletically proportioned, with long, well cut black hair framing a face set with green eyes. What is most striking, however, is that, though his features are undoubtedly European, his skin is tanned a surprisingly dark shade of golden brown, giving him an intensely exotic appearance.

As you step over to the table, Dr Frinks starts and looks up at you. For a moment a mixture of fear and hope crosses his expression as he looks at you, but it is replaced with a welcoming smile before you can scarcely notice its presence.

"Ah, Lady Van Helsing, I'm glad you've arrived in time. You were nearly too late. We were just about to set out, and you would have missed out on seeing the moment that changes the world," Dr Frinks says. "I would like to introduce to you my esteemed colleague, Dr Ambrose Dexter, the man whose fantastic mind is responsible for the events we will soon be privileged to witness."
