Melanie looks completely out of it, but at least she's still alive, and in a better situation than your backseat.
"What the hell is happening?" You ask.
"I have no idea," the woman says, as she takes out a few instruments from the bag. She wraps a blood pressure cuff around Melanie's arm and starts pumping. "I know about as much as you. There are people with sores on their faces, and they seem to be violent and crazy. Maybe some sort of terrorist attack or something."
