Cote d'Ivoire

From Usgs

President Guillaume Soro rules Cote d'Ivoire with the consent and agreement of former President and current Prime Minister Laurent Gbagbo and, theoretically, the voters. There have been allegations of vote-rigging. Soro strides the fence between Nigeria and the Senegal-Ghana political rivalry, preferring to play one side off of another, though he is often linked to the Senegal-Ghana faction. He reportedly favors a stronger West Africa and isn't very concerned about "Pan-Africanism". He's also very concerned with the accumulation of wealth. Despite rampant corruption, Cote d'Ivoire is quickly regaining it's status as the jewel of West Africa, as Abdijan quickly grows as an export and import capital. Tourism is up again, agriculture is booming, and the beginning of industry is on the move. Cote d'Ivoire's legendary infrastructure is still flourishing, and the electricity services nearly every household, most of which are equipped with Internet access and cell phones. Though rural poverty is a reality and some sections of the country haven't entirely recovered from the devestating civil war of the 00's, Cote d'Ivoire is considered a liveable African country by many French emigres, rivaling Senegal as a retirement destination.
