Burkina Faso

Literacy hovers around 40%, which is a big improvement over 1990- 12%. Burkina Faso remains one of the poorest nations in the world. The recent drought hasn't helped matters. Burkinabe still migrate to wealthier Cote d'Ivoire and Ghana and are treated poorly there. President Philippe Dakio has pledged to make better treatment of nationals abroad an activist effort for his administration, to little avail thus far.
