[edit] Personality

This is a courageous man, with a fierce personality and a passion for combat. Combining feverish passion with absolute bravery, Meinhard will gladly charge into battle with his men. But Meinhard is no fool. He does not risk his men, his land, or his own self foolishly, using the advice of his men and his own knowledge to know when it is best to fight, wait, or retreat. He is cunning and intelligent, and very good negotiator. He is very trustworthy, and his men look to him for leadership. He is fiercely religious and follows the words of Aodeyn exactly.

Off the battlefield, Meinhard is a different man. He is kind, caring, and compassionate, though stern with anyone who disobeys him, in a way that he does not seem angry, but instead, severely disappointed, and it fills the person with guilt. He rarely lashes out with anger. He prefers to talk things out. He is careful when making his decisions, and considers the other person's view. He is very friendly and a nice person to spend time with.

[edit] Appearance

Meinhard is a strong man. It shows in his bulk. His hair is a light brown, the typical Ainori colour, and it is turning gray on the edges. His eyes are a light shade of gray. His beard is lightly trimmed. His silver-and-red armour, once worn by James of the Eight in the legendary battle against Valistrix, is heavy, but he moves in it fluidly, almost like it isn't there. This is because he has reached such strength that he has grown out of the confines of armour, and moves swiftly, just like his steed, Heimlich. Heimlich is gray, with a darker gray main. He has a large warhorse from Saxe-Coburg, and he is one of the finest, as the king's mount. His horse wears James' horses' special armour, handed down to his son Meinhard. It is barding, which protects the horse from horseslayer weapons and magic.

[edit] Biography

Seventeen years before the Sundering, James gave birth to a son, choosing to name him Meinhard, which was the name of his wife, Gretchen's, father. The knight cared for his son, and trained him in how to fight from horseback when he was just a young boy. The knight told him of his past adventures, and of the great things that had happened. Meinhard enjoyed the stories his father would tell him. Then, when Meinhard was 13, still dedicating himself to his fighting, he left his son to go fight in a war. His little brother, James Jr., was only four at the time. He and his mother took care of him. He would show his little brother the horses, and James would watch Meinhard ride. The times were rough, because there was a war going on, but they persevered, Meinhard would go to taverns and inns, hoping to hear about what side was prevailing. They had been staying in the plains of Sacae. James rode home to find them, gathering those with them, as suddenly, the continent began to flood. They waited it out, for two years, surviving in the mountains where the waters hadn't reached. Their father led them and the large variety of people who'd been with them. The land was rich and fertile. 21-year-old Meinhard and ten-year-old James did what they could to help. Meinhard was exceptionally active in helping his father start a kingdom. During the time they'd been in the mountains, James had told his son of the things he'd done. He'd fought against Valistrix's armies with the king of Ilia and a fierce bow-woman.

He helped his father build Ainor when he returned from the meeting of the Treaty of the Eight, and attended his father's coronation ceremony. (I'll add more here when I hear from FM...need ideas).

(This is later in the bio. Adding so I don't forget. ;))

Meinhard once commanded a fight against Illyria, defending Naruhad against the invaders. The battle was fierce, and it was uncertain what side would win. Then, Meinhard executed a secret Ainori trick with his horses, a strategy that helped turn the tide. Finally, during this same battle, Meinhard himself charged, Escalon in hand, and plowed through the morphs, all the way to their officer. He drove Escalon into the man's heart, and his horsemen mopped up what was left. They celebrated that victory for a long time.
