King Bloodmane

From Zok

King Bloodmane's title is self-proclaimed but rarely protested. He is either the best or the worst pirate ever to hoist sail, though which depends on who you ask. His fame spread throughout the world, from the southern coasts of Dakzan to the ice-filled rivers of the Northlands and even to the shores of the West. Bloodmane (for that's the name he took) was the greediest, angriest, most violently psychopathic dwarf ever to set foot on a boat. The only prisoners he took were those he ransomed, and about two thirds of them ended up dead before their families received ransom demands. Some say he ate his victims alive, some say that the seas behind his ship swarmed with sharks fed on the blood of his victims, some say his crew was peopled entirely by the damned, or that he sailed upriver for weeks and burned entire cities to the ground, or that he's singlehandedly buried more treasure than the dwarves have ever mined. He sank navies and taught his ship to fly to launch slave-raids on the Neogi. He did battle with the innumberable horrors of the deep and the Sahuagin fled before him in terror. He slew whales and used their bones to build his fleet, and the seas of the Dronos were red with blood. He was the champion of the world.

By the time he was old enough that his bloodstained beard was gray underneath, Bloodmane was more feared than Hskthrita. She was not pleased, and rose from the depths to devour his fleet. Bloodmane, always the homicidal maniac, leapt right overboard and engaged her in her own element. The two did battle for days, the tidal waves of Hskthrita's frustration smashing into coastlines around the world. Finally, Hskthrita swallowed Bloodmane and departed for the Undersea. Thus, it was in the Undersea that he cut his way out of her side, and in the Undersea that she finally acquiesced and acknowledged his status as an aquatic predator worthy of respect. She granted him his divinity and then casually tossed his shattered body into Pnugul. Since recovering and hacking his way out, he's built a new ship and now terrorizes the Undersea.
