In 2001, Ian Chen failed miserably in his attempt to paint a lotus leaf during Chinese Painting. When the teacher, Ba Lao Shi, came by and asked what it was, Ian responded that he had painted a B-2 Bomber, the U.S. Air Force's advanced stealth bomber. Ba Lao Shi, of course, had no idea what this was and was quite bewildered, especially considering the laughter of all the nearby students. The comical exchange occurred as follows:

Ba Lao Shi: *Spots a student's painting which looks nothing like her sample painting* Zhe shi shei zuo de??? (Who made this??)
*Pause*
Ian: ...Shi wo zuo de. (...I made it.)
Ba Lao Shi: Zhe shi shenme??? (What is it???)
Ian: ...Shi B-2 Bomber... (...It's a B-2 Bomber...)
*Laughter*
