Cath's family has been involved in the war for a while. She has family in every one of the seven (now six) cities but doesn't keep contact with them very often. Her family told her about the war when she was 10. She didn't really understand it then, but boy, does she ever understand it now.
She was taught to use her family's special art -- infusing an essence into a chosen object to give it certain properties, usually elemental. What is considered an essence is hard to say. For example, she wields cards that create and manipulate fire. She infused embers into them.
Her family is definitely considered "weird". They attack each other often, though not maliciously. They're practicing. It's really funny, they have odd family outings.
She lives in New York City, USA and is a Seal.

Happy-go-lucky, silly, and very very nice. Not much else to say. She's rather different and high on life, able to appreciate the little things that other people tend to take for granted. She wants nothing more than to protect the people she loves. Before she had a habit of hiding her pain but now she feels a little more inclined to open up, the fear of burdening others now mysteriously absent.
