Early Life & Education
Gregory Bieler was born in Cleveland Ohio to Michael Bieler and Jeannine Bieler. His father Michael was an electrician and small business owner. His mother Jeannine was a former nurse at the Cleveland Clinic.
At a young age, Gregory worked with his father on numerous labor projects requiring intensive physical work. Many cite these experiences as a notable reason for his strong labor-orientated politics.
Bieler attended private school all of his life, and after his education at his high school he moved onto the University of Dayton to study Law. As a student, Bieler kept a low-key persona and maintained his studies well. He kept an accumulative GPA of 3.5 throughout his education at U.D. He graduated in 2010 from U.D. with his major in law.
Post Education
After he graduated from the University of Dayton, Gregory Bieler worked in the Cleveland Electrician's Union Local 38 under his father and for Local 38's law division. When he started his career off, he worked as an Electrical Apprentice under his father Michael, learning the electrical trade. After a year of apprenticeship, he worked in the legal department of Local 38. As a lawyer for the union, he saw many of the hardships his district was going through under Republican leadership. He states this as the start of his hardcore political career.
Personal Life
Gregory Bieler is single with no wife and no children. When questioned about having a family in the future, Bieler most usually remarks "I'm not thinking about it, not interested in it, and I'm comfortable living my life the way it is. There's a lot of benefits and happiness in marriage, but there's a lot of plusses for not being maritally bound. And don't take that the wrong way like I'm sure you want to." However, he has stated that "marriage is still an option, but now's not right for me."
Bieler is a Roman Catholic although many state, including himself, that his views are too conflicting to be part of the Catholic Church. However, he was raised as Catholic since his childhood and attended Catholic private schools all his educational life and despite being at odds with the church, he remains a somewhat-active member. He has often bashed the Catholic Church for its "hypocritive" actions, most notably when the Catholic Diocese around the United States was charged with priests molesting minors, frequently youthful males.
District Ten Demographics
Currently, Congressman Bieler represents Ohio Congressional District 10, which mainly encompasses Cleveland and the Greater Cleveland area.
Congressional District 10
District 10 is very liberal and comprises of many hard-core union and blue collar workers. Hence the reason Bieler was elected with such ease, despite being young and with no elected experience prior to his current office.
Political Career
When Republican incumbent Thiris Steton faced reelection in 2012, Bieler announced his candidacy. The announcement was well received by the unions in which he had built a strong following, thanks to his father's aid as well as his intricate involvement in union activities. He received backing from several prestigious law firms and groups who stated he represented obvious knowledge for Ohio Law. He officially entered the Democratic Primaries for 10th District in January 2012.
Bieler is heavily involved as a Congressman in the Ohio Democratic Party
Political Ideology
Most consider Bieler to be an "extreme liberal", "hardcore labor proponent", and "independent mind in partisan politics". His campaign was largely run on his most progressive ideology. His campaign included:
Pro-Choice
Pro-Environment
Pro-Union
Pro-Gay Marriage
Pro-Public Healthcare
Pro-Gun Control
Pro-Public Education
Pro-Fiscal Responsibility
Pro-Secure Borders

Anti-Free Trade
Only one policy Bieler has self-admitted to about being conservative on is immigration. Other than this lone policy, he is a progressive liberal.

Public Response
After Bieler had publically announced his candidacy to run for Congress, the reception was well-received. Most critics were silent and declined to comment. However, most agreed that Representative Thiris Steton's record in the House (where he had missed 33% of all votes) was not much to trophy for his campaign and his accomplishments numbered at none.

In a three-way race between several other ambitious candidates, Bieler fared the best, with a clear majority credited with his strong organized backing from the Union, and most notably, Local 38.
