Current majority
After the 2014 elections the Senate consisted of 19 members of the Senate Democratic Caucus and 17 members of the Senate Republican Conference, giving the Democrats a Senate majority with then Vice President Andrew Merrilin (D-MI) presiding. After the resignation of Ohio Valley Senator Terry Hughes (R-OH) and the appointment of Jax Jaxal (D-OH) to fill the vacancy, the Democratic majority increased to 20-16.
