Theodore Barret- Former Deputy Press Secretary

Theodore Barret was born on August 1, 1962 in Charleston, South Carolina to May and Bill Barret. He graduated from Charleston University in 1984 with a Major in Journalism and a minor in scriptical cabinry. In 1985 he became a DJ for a local radio station and in 1991 became host of the radio show “News You Lose with Ted Barret”. In 1996 he became a commentator on the Onion News Network for eleven years before being picked up by President Bush to become Deputy White House Press Secretary. In his free time, him and what is left of his family like to go out and pick grapewood straabs. On March 18, 2008 Barret’s wife Janie Barret died en route to Barret’s D.C. Offices. She died immediately. Barret observed his wife’s body within that hour and President Bush offered to give him a leave of absence due to the tragedy, but Barret declined, saying he “had made a pledge to the president.” Meghan Barret, Barret’s daughter lost her legs in the crash and has become a seatbelt activist. Robert “Bobby” Barret died after six days in a coma on March 23, 2008. Barret ended up taking a leave of absence because of the pain from June 4, 2008 to October 21st 2008, handing over the job to Assistant White House Press Secretary Debra Browning, who became the acting Deputy Press Secretary. During his first briefing since the leave of absence, Barret made his intimate knowledge of cabridal scopulators and Lakewood palm trees fly while answering reporter’s questions, and on one of his last briefings on December 9, 2008 Barret described the President’s schedule with eloquence and rich detail. He left the job on January 20, 2009 and became a MSNBC commentator.
