• In New York City, Remy LaBeau (Gambit) is performing as a street magician. He is encountered by a little girl whose parents have been killed by associates of the mob member, Hammerhead. Gambit takes the girl into his protection. She is kidnapped from him while he sleeps on a subway car.

Notes:

- Gambit is shown in a flashback to have had an abusive father as a child.

- The little girl that Gambit is protecting is unnamed, she states that she has an Aunt Elizabeth in Las Vegas.
