BULA-SIA !

Vinaka-vaka-levu to all that voted for me to be chief in January!

Well, Christmas and New Years here on the island has been very memorable and emotional, not only in participating in the local Mali village celebrations, but also Chris and Toni arriving, getting engaged then married in a ceremony on Vorovoro yesterday evening!

Tui Mali did the honours of saying a few words from the bible, then the lucky couple exchanged vows and (bamboo) rings made by Peter and Henry - a couple of the Fijian workers, working on the jetty.

We sat down to a great BBQ fish supper, which Chris managed to catch seconds before the end of a Bachelor fishing trip the night before.

For this month, I wanted to push forward with two very big projects and get confirmed solutions ready for application and construction, namely the water and accomodation issues.

Being here for nearly 3 weeks has given me the insight that these two areas need to be sorted asap and I have a few ideas and suggestions I'll be putting forward to you all. So, over the coming days, I'll be reinstigating the discussions, with proposals, research and piccies!

I also have a few smaller intermediate ideas and projects to get cracking on with, including intermediate accomodation, (transforming some existing spaces), tending to the farm area and general upkeep of the village.

Catchyou all soon! - online or in the village!
