Tr Archive:Writing Rules

From Tr Archive

This article deals with the rules of writing. Some pages have to be written in a certain style, like the pages for the levels in the games. The pages for the games themselves is another example. Failure to follow these layout rules will result in correction of the article in question. You should also see the article that describes the general rules of the archive that all users must follow: TR Archive:Archive rules.

Contents

Game pages

Use this page as an example: Tomb Raider 2.

Table

The first thing a game page should include is a table where the general information about the game is displayed.

Introduction lines

Then you write a small paragraph containing general information about the game like publisher, developer and release date.

Plot section

Next comes a plot section. Here the general story of the game is displayed. Editors should not give away the ending of the game or give away information which spoils the game for the reader. This is very important!

Level pages

Use this page as an example: Caves.

Table

Just like the game pages, the level pages must contain a table where the general information about the level is displayed.

Introduction lines

Then you write a few lines about the level, but keep in mind that level description is contained in a separate section.

Plot section

If the level contains any cut sequences either before the level begins, in the middle of the level or when the level is finished, these must be described in a plot section.

Level description

Next comes a level description. Here you describe the look of the level and the traps and enemies Lara encounters in the level. Any puzzles worth noticing must also be included in the description.

Walkthrough

On every level we like to include a link to a walkthrough for that level. For the classic games in the Tomb Raider series we use the site Tomb Raiders Traveler's Guide.
