The Caves is the very first level in the Tomb Raider series. For some fans this level defines what Lara Croft and Tomb Raider is all about.
Plot
Lara has gone to Peru to find the Tomb of Qualopec and also the Scion, acting on the orders from Natla. She hires a guide who takes her up into the mountains. Their search ends when they find a par of huge stone doors. Lara climbs up to the top of the doors, and finds the mechanism to open them. She pushes a stone and the doors start to swing open. Her guide is standing on the ground looking into the darkness. Suddenly a pack of wolves jump out and attack the guide. Lara quickly reacts to the screams from the guide. She jumps down to the ground and starts to take shots at the wolves. After a while she has managed to finish off the entire pack. But it is too late, as her guide is already dead. She decides to step into the cave. Once inside the cave, the stone doors slam shut behind her.
Level description
The first part of this level is covered in snow, and almost no trace of humans an be found here. The second part of the level, though, gives you a small view of Incan architecture. The only enemies that inhabit the caves are wolves, bats and a bear. Traps are few, and the only real danger besides the animals are darts shooting out from the walls.
