The Scion was a powerful artifact divided and shared between the three rulers of the lost continent of Atlantis. It is said that the Scion is more powerful than God himself. But Natla, one of the rulers of Atlantis, wanted to exploit the Scion's powers. For this she was captured and locked up, by the two other rulers Tihocan and Qualopec. After that, Atlantis was destroyed by a meteor, and the three parts of the Scion was hidden in three different places around the world.

The Pistols are Lara's most common and trusty weapons. On every game Lara starts out with her pistols, which has an unlimited amount of ammo. But the pistols are not so very powerful and can only be used to take out small and medium sized enemies. If Lara were to take out a bigger enemy with them, it would take a long time and Lara might get killed in the attempt. Since they have unlimited ammo, they are a good alternative when no other weapon can be used.

Lara Croft is the daughter of the aristocrat Richard Croft and his wife, and was raised up with the goal of turning her into an aristocrat. She was intended to be married away after she had completed finishing school at the age of 21. But when she was returning from a skiing trip, her plane crashed in the Himalayas. For two weeks Lara, the only survivor of the plane crash, had to trust her instincts and her wits to stay alive. This event made her dislike the aristocratic way of life, and she began to travel and explore the world.
Lara is generally presented as an intelligent, athletic, and somewhat reckless Englishwoman of noble birth who travels the world in pursuit of priceless artifacts. Known as both an archaeologist and an adventurer, she frequently ventures into ancient, and often very hazardous, tombs and ruins. Though it might seem like she is a cold and emotionless person sometimes, she does have feelings like most people and tends to try to help people in trouble on her adventures.

The City of Vilcabamba is located inside a cave in the mountains of Peru. The Incans that lived here knew how to build great structures. It would also seem that they where not so happy about visitors coming to the city. Traps are frequent and they include swinging axes, darts shooting from the walls and collapsing floor tiles. Other hazards are bats, bears and wolves that have made the city into their home.

Alexandria is one of Egypt's largest cities today, and is commonly referred to as the "Pearl of the Mediterranean". It was first built around 300 years BC by the architect Dinocrates at the order of Alexander the Great; hence the name of the city. Lara visited the city in Tomb Raider 4 when she was looking for the various pieces to the Armour of Horus which was scattered about at the ancient sites in the city.

The Crossbow is a very effective weapon when Lara is faced with one or several enemies that are hard to take down. As most people know, the crossbow fires darts at their targets with high speed. This weapon comes with three types of ammunition. Normal darts, poison darts and explosive darts. The last type is the most effective as it can destroy a fairly large group of enemies in an instant.
