The Shield is a term on Titanpedia used to describe the ultimate vandal-fighting weapon. The Shield prevents new readers from creating accounts. Because it is required on Tianpedia to have an account to edit, the Shield prevents vandals from destroying Titanpedia. Although the Shield usually functions on those levels of maintanence, it can be upgraded to prevent anonymous users from reading content, and can also be used to prevent logged in users from editing, reading content, uploading files or moving pages. The Shield can be raised and lowered only by one of the Teen Titans or one of the Titans.

Shield Levels The Shield has various levels of defense. Each of the levels adds restrictions to the previous.

Default - although no longer ever used, Default (D) is the lowest level of Shield power. The shield is totally deactivated at this level.

0 - the normal level of maintanence, it prevents anonymous users from editing, and prevents logged in users from moving pages. It is always active.

1 - prevents anonymous users from creating accounts.

2 - prevents logged in users from uploading files.

3 - prevents logged in users from editing.

Lockdown - also called L, Lockdown prevents anonymous and logged in users from reading content. The highest Shield level, it will only be activated if Titanpedia is close to be destroyed by one or several vandals.

Requests for raising of the Shield Logged in users can always request raising of the shield in case of emergency. You can always check the levels of Shield maintanence on the Control Panel, which you can select on the toolbox. Ask for permission on the talk page , or on one of the Bureaucrats or Sysops talk pages.
