One of Jack's more rarely used guitars, his 1970s Crestwood Astral II has been part of his arsenal for a ridiculously long time, and has been seen in photos dating back to his Two Star Tabernacle days. The Astral is almost always tuned to open E, for slide playing. Used for playing "Let's Build a Home", "I Fought Piranhas", and "Goin' Back to Memphis", and also reportedly used throughout the recording of their self-titled debut.

This guitar was previously thought to be a 1960s Domino Dawson; this has since been debunked (the headstocks are much different). The Astral is also frequently confused with his other similar-looking hollow-body electric, the Harmony H73. (The bridges are different, and the H73 has four knobs, while the Astral only has two.)
