Jake 2.0 is a spy-fi TV series centered on Jake Foley, an NSA computer technician who becomes infected with experimental nanites and develops superpowers. Many of his biological functions are improved, granting him super strength and speed, acute hearing, low-light vision, and rapid healing. His most prominent new ability, however, is remote wireless control over computers. Jake is able to interface with any computer or computer-controlled device, from a range of up to thirty feet. The devices in question do not have to be equipped for wireless communication. The proliferation of such devices throughout modern society makes Jake's ability very useful.

Once the agency recognizes Jake's new abilities, they make him a field agent in order to take the best possible advantage of what he can do. The series is set in Washington, D.C.

• Deputy Director Louise Beckett – NSA executive. Jake Foley's and Kyle Duarte's boss. Former Blackhawk pilot during Gulf War I, where she was known as Tankbuster. Speaks German.
• Sarah Carter – Legislative director for Senator Thompson. Went to Georgetown University with Jake Foley, who has a crush on her.
• Kyle Duarte – NSA field agent. Jake Foley's partner and mentor.
• Jake Foley – Computer technician from Akron, Ohio, turned NSA field agent when he developed nanite-induced superpowers.
• Diane Hughes – NSA scientist from Bar Harbor, Maine, who inherited the nanite project and became the primary authority on Jake's abilities and condition.

• Theresa Carano – International arms dealer, dealing in Micro-Semtex (ten times as powerful as Semtex). Daughter of Ruben Carano. Currently in federal custody.
• Mr. Carter – Went missing during Operation Desert Storm while testing classified weapons systems. Sarah Carter's father.
• Bit – Hacker who worked with (and was misled by) DuMont. Currently in federal custody.
• Steve Clemens (b. 11/13/1969, Alexandria, Virginia) – NSA cryptographer. Dirty agent who attempted to abduct and sell Diane Hughes. Currently in federal custody.
• Carl Devereaux – Former MI5 agent. Vasily Koronkiewicz cut off both of his hands in an act of intimidation and malice.
• DuMont – Genius hacker whose team stole $10 million from the Federal Reserve. Also known as Death Owl. Currently in federal custody.
• Jerry Foley (b. ca. 1984) – College student. Jake Foley's younger brother.
• Fran – NSA scientist. Diane Hughes' assistant.
• Ethan Fulton – Militia leader, American domestic terrorist. Currently in federal custody. Husband of Ann Fulton; father of Caleb Fulton.
• Angela Hamilton – Former CIA agent who went rogue and stole Varcon gas from the Densmore Research Facility to avenge her sister's death in Central America.
• Mr. Harcourt – Bank manager at the Washington, D.C. branch of the National Bank of Poland.
• Alan Huergott – Jake Foley's sixth-grade teacher. Foley once borrowed Huergott's name as a convenient alias.
• Miles Jennings – NSA executive.
• Karen – Jake's nosy neighbor.
• Seymour Lafortunata – NSA researcher specializing in "interpersonal liaising," gathering intelligence through an extensive network of personal contacts. Genius.
• MacP – Hacker who worked with DuMont. The only one who really knew DuMont's plans. Currently in federal custody.
• Darin Metcalf – College friend and former roommate of Jake Foley.
• Jennifer Parks – Friend of Jake Foley, living in Seattle, Washington. Wife of Kevin.
• Kevin Parks – Friend of Jake Foley, living in Seattle, Washington. Husband of Jennifer.
• Rachel – Hacker who worked with (and was misled by) DuMont; DuMont's online lover. Also known as Yori. Currently in federal custody.
• Alonzo Reed – Right-hand man to Theresa Carano. Currently in federal custody.
• Minnie Riley – Civilian. Romantic interest of Kyle Duarte. Janet Riley's sister.
• Janet Riley – Civilian. Minnie Riley's sister.
• Chief Director James Skerrit – NSA executive. Louise Beckett's superior.
• Senator Thompson – Sarah Carter's employer.
• Abdul Tiranzi – Terrorist with al Jahara.
• Valerie Warner – NSA executive. Superior to both James Skerrit and Miles Jennings.
• Congressman Williams – Member of the Agriculture Committee.
• Mei Ling Wong – Chinese double agent. Former lover of Kyle Duarte.

• Sergeant Ken Aubrey – Member of the Wolfpack. Killed in action in Afghanistan.
• Ruben Carano – International arms dealer. Father of Theresa Carano. Died in 2001.
• Clu – Hacker who worked with (and was misled by) DuMont. Killed by MacP.
• General Wesley Frewald – Base commander at Fort McLelland. Commander and former member of the Wolfpack. Killed by Lawrence, a member of the Wolfpack.
• Ann Fulton – Wife of Ethan Fulton, mother of Caleb Fulton (both militiamen). Former FBI agent. Shot and killed in 1994 during a botched raid on Henry Travis's compound near Bozeman, Montana.
• Caleb Fulton – Militiaman. Son of Ethan and Ann Fulton. Shot and killed during an NSA raid on Ethan Fulton's militia.
• Doctor Gage – NSA researcher turned traitor and murderer. Killed by NSA security.
• Vasily Koronkiewicz – Mercenary kidnapper and assassin. Killed in federal custody by his employer, Steve Clemens.
• John Ramsey – Senior engineer for GDLS. Killed by Chinese agents during the theft of his laptop.
• Eric Vaughn – Black market arms dealer with ties to the IRA. Killed by Jake Foley.
• Nicholas Wright – NSA field agent. Call name "Sandstorm." Killed by Abdul Tiranzi.
