Dimensional World War

From Soloralwiki

The Dimensional World War was the largest series of battles in the entire Fate Distortion campaign, the second of the three Control of Destiny Campaigns.

It began from a plan masterminded by Atropos to destabilize the fabric of space-time by destroying the Elemental Seal. This was to be accomplished by giving technology to many different factions in different elements, including the Aquatans, the people of the Flying Islands of Jasonia, and the armies of Eclipse. The big assumption was that these people, driven by greed, would begin full-out invasions of the other dimensions, thus starting a huge war that would cause many rips in the dimensional walls. As each rip occurred, more and more power from the Elemental Seal would be released to the Fate Distortion Crystals until the Seal finally lost so much power that it could not hold the dimensions apart. Reality would become meaningless as the dimensions whirled together, and the resulting destruction would weaken the mortals of the universe to the point where Fate could corrupt what remained with impunity.

Atropos chose four champions to watch over the effort. Awaldock, a young man from Sunscorch, was so blind in his desire to lead his people to paradise that he didn’t even need to be mind controlled. Magus too wished only to find his sister and needed very little motivation. Two Jasonians, however, needed to be controlled directly. Commander Assassinite was ordered to begin the FIoJ invasion of other worlds to spark off the war while John Sager was to control the world of Micras using the dark power of the Nightcrash in Eclipse.

Three factions emerged that Atropos could neither predict nor control. The first was the Time Distortionists, the mortal enemies of Fate that Fate itself had not yet been able to defeat. Ironically, in their attempts to fight the collapsing dimensions they nurtured the power of the Fate Distortion Crystals which they believed could be used as weapons, thus inadvertently making the problem worse before realizing their error. The second was a faction of Microns lead by Pia’Sur and Sai’Kar that vowed to protect the crystals, although they did very little to hinder Atropos’s plans directly. The third, and most problematic faction, was the Control of Destiny Team. Atropos had hoped that being scattered and clueless would kill them off, or at least keep them powerless long enough for her plans to succeed, but the Team quickly gained information and power and even gained possession of several of the Fate Distortion Crystals and became their champions, able to use their power to repair the damage to the dimensional walls.

The CoD Team, micron forces, and Time Distortionists eventually met up, exchanged information, and began to fight back. John Sager was taken out of power and imprisoned and Awaldock turned against Atropos. Eventually Assassinite’s invasion force was smashed and Assassinite himself freed from Atropos’s dark mind control. The team aquired five of the seven crystals

Realizing her plan was slipping out of control, Atropos ordered Eclipse to launch a truelly massive invasion of Jasonia, hoping to cause enough chaos in this last crusade to destroy the dimensional walls. The Flying Islands fought back admirably well, too well for Atropos. The pathways between Eclipse and Jasonia were sealed, the invading forces destroyed, and the sixth crystal fell into their hands.

With Eclipse’s armies crushed and most mortals out of her control, Atropos began to look to her own defenses on the Plane of Shadows and prepare for the inevitable siege.
