FlyingScotsman

From Sodor Island Forums

FlyingScotsman joined Sodor Island Forums in November 2003, and probably spends far too much time there. His real name is Tom. He was born in 1983 and is therefore old enough:

1) To remember the early days of Thomas on television 2) To know better.

On Sodor Island Forums, he has been involved in a number of projects. He has two Extended Railway Series volumes, Thoroughly Modern Engines and Eventful Engines. He created the Independent Works, Clarence the Crank Engine, Spit City and Scarlet & Co. He was also the initiator of Wikiproject Thomas, and is a Wikiproject Leader. He has also produced a number of parodies, short fanfiction stories and sprites. He has contributed to The Real Lives of Thomas the Tank Engine and Sodor Island. One of his proudest achievements is managing to produce an entire dissertation on the Railway Series and getting it taken seriously.

Away from Sodor Island Forums, he enjoys writing and drawing, and has a comic strip online. He likes walking, industrial archaeology, history, art, literature, partying and using long words.

Works

Spit City

A dystopian piece of science fiction, set in a messed-up future. Heavily inspired by Perdido Street Station' Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?. It centres around self-confessed immoral man Aaron Slade and his adventures in the most feared city in the post-apocalyptic world.

Clarence the Crank Engine

A despicable parody, featuring cynical versions of Thomas characters.

Scarlet & Co

His most popular work, a series concerning a group of anthropomorphic trains.

The League of Losers

One of his recent projects, and personal favourite projects, has been The League of Losers. This was created in response to some of the ridiculous rumours circulating around Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends. The basic premise was, suppose the characters rumoured to be appearing in upcoming episodes really did exist? From there, it moved on to a broader parody of internet fandom.

The most popular character in this series is Endok.
