Tied in Knots

Henry is selected to take a special, but goes into an uncontrolled wheelslip and ties his valve gear in knots. He is sent to the Works.

Man on the Line

Edward goes to work on the Main Line while Henry is away. Taking a midnight train, he thinks he sees a man on the line and stops. His driver discovers that it is a moth on his headlamp. The signalman reveals that they have narrowly avoided running into some breakaway trucks up ahead.

Engine Trouble

Gordon and James make fun of Bear's trouble starting on cold mornings. But Gordon slips to a standstill with a heavy goods train and one of James' pipes bursts in the cab, and Bear has to come to the rescue of both. Pip and Emma arrive to help out.

Not to Be Moved

Henry relates what happened at the works one day, when a man working under him narrowly avoided a serious accident when a driver ignored a 'NOT TO BE MOVED' sign.
