Library Location and Hours
The library is located on the third floor of the Senior School and is open Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. On occasion the library will be closed at various times of the day for special events or programming. Examples include AP exams, guest speakers, meetings.
Behaviour in the Library
Students are expected to act in a manner appropriate to an academic setting:
- speak in quiet voices
- focus on work
- independent study
- no eating or drinking (bottled water allowed)
- tidy area after use
- respect physical property of the school (including library materials) and each other
- respect the wide age range of students using the library
- use technology appropriately and within the guidelines of the school's Acceptable Use Policy
- no cell phone conversations: go out to the hall
Borrowing Privileges
Students are allowed to borrow regular material for an initial period of three weeks. At the end of the loan period the item(s) must be returned or renewed. Students may renew an item one time for an additional three weeks. Suspension of library privileges and a replacement fine will result if item(s) are not returned.
Junior School students may borrow up to three books at one time and may not have more than three books out at a time. Junior students with overdue material will not be allowed to borrow more items until the overdue material is returned.
Senior School students may borrow up to four books at one time but will have their privileges suspended if material is overdue.
Staff and faculty are asked to return material promptly. Departments will be asked to replace lost material.
Some items set aside for specific projects or in-demand items may have shorter loan periods.
Textbooks
The library does not stock course textbooks, including novels for English classes. Students are asked to acquire these books through the expected channels (class sets, purchase).
