Computers & the Library
From Rsgc Library
Students are welcome to use their computers in the library. The following rules should be kept in mind:
- Each study carrel at the back of the library is equiped with an outlet. Students should use these seats if they need to charge their computer batteries. Please do sit at a table and stretch the power cord across the floor to an outlet. It is a safety hazard for other people and for the computer.
- Students are welcome to use lifestyle applications like iTunes or GarageBand but must use headphones to do so. There is always someone who does not want to hear your music. The library has a supply of headphones if a pair is needed.
- Students should feel free to watch DVDs or internet-based video but should keep in mind the environment. The library staff reserves the right to ask students to turn off inappropriate content. Headphones are required.
- The IT staff have already limited some access to external sites. Students should keep in mind that they are at school and they should behave apppropriately.
The library has a small lab with 10 eMacs loaded with a full suite of applications including Microsoft Office. Additional computers are used for accessing the library catalogue and the internet and there is one computer designated for yearbook production. Students doing school work have first priority on these machines. During class time teachers may book the lab and these class uses take priority over students on spare periods.
