Introduction

Welcome to the Dark Places on the Map Wiki, a resource for background development and character connections taking place in countries without a membership base. The "Dark Places on the Map" refers to the 85% of the globe without any membership or Officer to administrate Storytelling for the purposes of backgrounds or proxies. This is where the UK office of DPotM comes into play. When in doubt, contact the DPotM.ANST .

Note: Entering character information in this wiki does not substitute for obtaining proper approvals for character backgrounds.

  • Where are these Dark Places?

This Wiki is designed to provide a brief, easy-to-reference timeline for Dark Place cities and locations. The timelines are primarily of player activity, so current and prospective players can see how many PCs have contributed to the history of a city, and in what way. Who was Prince of St. Petersburg during the 17th Century? How many PCs were in France during the Reign of Terror? Who was the first vampire in Prague? These questions can all be answered using the wiki.

The Wiki is divided along continental, then regional boundaries, and then divided by city. Each city has its own rough timeline. The design guidelines are mostly common sense, but are enumerated below just in case-

If your City isn't there, feel free to create it- Not all (or even most) cities are represented here. So if the city of your choice isn't in the Wiki, feel free to create a timeline for it using the templates. Make sure it ends up in the appropriate Continent/Region!

Do not edit another character's entry without permission- If you are correcting spelling or grammar, that is fine. But if you think a player has created an erroneous entry, email Emma with your reasoning. And if the article is found to be in error, it will be altered or removed.

Entries should reflect approved backgrounds- These entries represent the actual manner in which your PC interacted with his environment and his fellow characters. A crazy PC who thinks they were Prince of Antarctica shouldn't have a wiki entry placing their PC there (except perhaps in the Rumors section). If a PC background is the result of torpor dreams, madness, or mistaken identity, and there is a legitimate reason to put their PC in a time and place where they could not have been, they should write to the ANST DPotM to double check.

Entries should be brief- The Society provides a Wikis to chronicle a PC's history, attitudes, and experiences. When making entries in this Wiki, you are encouraged to provide embedded links to more lengthy biographies. For the purposes of this site, a brief one or two sentence entry per century should be sufficient to describe where a PC was and what he was doing. Keep entries in chronological order, and provide specific dates where possible.
