Ask for her name

"What is your name?" you ask.
"My name, I never thought you would ask that," she responds. "I guess you can call me Emma"
A sly smile washes across her face for a brief moment. You suddenly remember something horrible. You hear screams in the back of your mind repeating "It's not mine! It's not me!"
You watch her face rot before you. Her eyes sink back into her flesh. The demon moves toward you, hissing "And I will call you Debra!"
This isn't real, it is obviously a hallucination. But why? You realize it doesn't matter. It's possible there really was a person there.
You move instinctively towards the railing. You feel a body slam against you. Defeating the illusion, you see the girl in front of you, as young as before. In her eyes there is only fear; you are more of a monster to her now than she was to you.
perhaps you will always be a demon to her, but you can make sure she is safe.
