ESNW Recipe

  1. Autoclave 989mL filtered, sterilized seawater (or use 989mL of Artificial Seawater
  2. Using sterile technique, add 10mL of the Nutrients and Trace Metals solution (This is brown and stored in the -20C. If stock solution is out, see Nutrients and Trace Metals subheading below on how to make it again.)
  3. Using sterile technique, add 1mL of the ESNW Vitamins solution (This is pink and stored in -20C. If stock solution is out, see ESNW Vitamins subheading below on how to make it again.)

Nutrients and Trace Metals

  1. Add ~700mL of distilled H2O to a LIVE media bottle
  2. Add the amount specified below (g/L value) for each of the respective 10 nutrients and trace metals
  3. Neutralize solution to a pH of 7.0 with HCl
  4. Add distilled H2O until total volume is 1L and recheck pH to be sure it is 7.0
  5. Aliquot and store in sterile tubes at -20C for future use
